  • Big expectations but…

After watching the tutorials I had big expectations, this app could fulfill a big gap and be fun.
Unfortunatly, even after closing all other apps, and even if the frame rate showed 30fps, the results with a 5MB video file background (only one, and it cannot be modified) and only one material layer it becomes jaggy and slow.
Maybe a matter of codex, size, or something else, i don’t know…
This is on the latest iPad Pro 12,9 in, 1To and maxed out video memory…
I tried it on my iPhone 12 Pro Max the results are pretty much the same, the minute you step to HD, frame rate drops and interface becomes unresponsive.
These are my first rapid tests, I still hope…
More to come and still positive, but for now it will be 3 stars, and it is generous, still hoping to have fun and a better experience with other promising features and better understanding of the details.
Site shows 50% discount, there was none on the app store but at 14CAD it’s ok, at least not one of those crazy monthly fees, thanks to the developers.
I will be glad to make a nicer review if I find ways to get better performances and optimizations in future updates.

Hi. We have just released an update to VS that has two render quality modes: performance and quality. In performance mode, in trade of some quality, you will have 60 fps with any built in preset. This mode is enabled by default. Please let me know how it feels now. Best regards. Merry Xmas
  • 4-Stars

Not the easiest app to wrap your head around. I’d give more for a step by step tutorial. I understand the object of the app, just wish it was simple enough to link my audio and use IA. Spent an hour trying to add a file then still have not figured out how to play the video file to see the generative effects. I switch to an audio app or ven Zenbeats DAW…doesn’t work in it. Can’t even see it as a plugin or an IA option either so not really sure even. It’s definitely not Nodes but then again…its just an app. But pretty to look at thats for sure. Buyer beware.. app doesn’t instruct on where to even begin. Demos are polished to entice, but leave the user confused as to how to jump in and start.. is what it is.

  • Good for a toy, but not an actual visualizer

Until you can import your own audio I don’t see much of a point. Maybe if you’re a professional pianist that makes YouTube videos it could be a useful 🤷‍♂️. You can’t really do much of anything with it other than tweak knobs and experiment with synthy stuff. That’s cool if that’s your thing, but I paid the $20 for this thinking it would help my produce some high-quality visuals for my music. It’s more of just a play thing right now. You can use it on audio tracks as an auv plugin-in, but I can’t even accesss half the gui in that format on my iPhone. I requested a refund that they denied, but I would really appreciate it considering it’s $20 and I don’t even have a use for it.

Hi. Importing your audio is one of the next features we have on our list to be implemented. It should be available before the end of the year. We don't handle refunds, Apple does. We don't have any control of the refund process ourselves. Best regards EDIT: VS 1.2.0 that has just been released now includes audio import. Looking forward to hear your feedback. Merry Xmas!
  • Let’s see this bugger git totally Breau ha!!!!

Deeper mutating possibilities for said items would be cool. I’d also like to see other textural possibilities with imported images that aren’t so techno. This thing is cool, but with such developments it can be a mind breaking monster. A warning for those prone to seizures may also be in order.

  • A massive step in the right direction

So far so good - updates coming thick and fast, full screen over hdmi. Fingers crossed we will eventually be able to add shaders to the library, but in spite of that it’s still a great way to get realtime audio and midi triggered visuals, and for musicians this is the perfect starting point.

  • Wow! Finally the video app I’ve always wanted!

This app is flat out amazing! None the less so because to my surprise it manages to run smoothly on my old iPad Air 2. I didn’t think it would. I’m sure I won’t be able to get too crazy with too many layers, but so far it does everything I need and more ... even while running as an AUv3 effect alongside other apps generating music. I’m floored!

I always wanted something to easily produce video that reacts to audio being fed into it. But VS goes even further by reacting to midi input as well. There are four LFOs that can add undulations and all kinds of movement free running or in sync with musical tempo.

I’m just completely amazed at this app. Thank you so much imaginando!

  • Apt Help Doesn’t Work

Online documentation is for the desktop version. Settings are completely different in app. In app help doesn’t work. You might try a little less piazzas and a little more testing. For help not to work is inexcusable. Your online manual needs to be a PDF and for the iOS version.

When using VSVS as a AUv3 you need to cover the whole display. What good are great graphics when you still display the AUM stuff at the top and the app’s menus and resize bar? It completely destroys the esthetics! You could use two-finger double tap.

The only reason I gave you 4-stars is I like your granular synth.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. The manual covers the main functions and features of VS common in both versions; the settings menu is only tiny part of VS. The in app help tips are accessible using the question mark icon, and a weblink to the manual is available from the menu. We are working on improving the full screen experience when using VS inside AUM.
