Great-sounding app, could use a few more parameter adjustments

Just got it and couldn’t wait to compare it to my B3-X which I just bought for $59.95. It sounds great out of the box and is definitely worth the reasonable price. It has adjustable bass sustain which the B3-X badly needs. But I’d have liked to have seen more Leslie tweaks re: speed and ramp-up times, amp models, etc. Minor nitpicks-it sounds great as is and I just learned how to program presets. Looking forward to lots of fun.

Please fix this, Guido.

I really do not want to damage the rating of this app, but… On GarageBand, the sound only plays if I hit a note every 15 or so times on the GarageBand keyboard. The first note is the upper (or lower) manual, the second one is the pedals, and then after that is just the clicking of the keys. This issue does not persist in Cubasis 2. The organ sounds incredible, but the faulty controls for GarageBand make it nearly unusable. The same issue persists with Yonac’s Galileo.

Response from developer

The only fact that the same "issue" persists ONLY WITH GARAGE BAND and with BOTH VB3m and and Galileo should make it evident that the issue is not with the plugin but is with Garage Band. And the reason why this happens is that both VB3m and Galileo respond on multiple MIDI channels for upper, lower and pedalboard, OMNI is not supported. On the other hand, Garage Band cycles through all 16 channels every time a new note is played, this also explains why you hear a note on the upper, the next on the lower then nothing for 14 notes, then back on the upper. Your 3 stars should go to Garage Band, not to VB3m.

Excellent sounding app

I love the sheer brilliance of this app for the price! I recommend downloading it! Loads as AUv3!

Response from developer

It is AUv3, you should be able to host it in other Apps such as AUM, Camelot or similar apps.

Like a VK-8m for your mobile device only better!

The best money I ever spent on my iPad was when I tipped an Uber driver a hundred bucks to bring it back to my hotel after forgetting it in his car. This app comes in a close 2nd place. I didn’t know this existed and I didn’t want to chance the money on the Hammond app. This thing works great on my older iPad and even my iPhone.

Suggestions:

1) Add reverse colour keys to the Keyboard page to access programs more quickly.

2) Allow the rotary control to have a “toggle” setting for those of us that like to use a sustain style pedal to change the Leslie speed.

3) Give an option to increase the size of the UI. This would make manipulating the onscreen drawbars easier.

4) MINOR bug: sometimes the app seems to lose track of the (swell) expression pedal and the volume jumps to full until you move the pedal again. This happened on my iPad and iPhone.

Overall this is a killer app and if you own a keyboard with so-so organ sounds, get this. I’m using it with a Kross 2 and it’s a perfect companion. Lightweight, connects with a single USB cable. Couldn’t be any easier to use and sounds incredible. Life-changingly dope.

VB3m

A great app for the price.
Better sounds than a lot keyboards but not as good as clone wheels.
I have a Studiologic NC2X which is a cheaper 88 note keyboard with 9 sliders and scaled down version of numa organ.
The VB3m samples are not as good but for the price a great app

Five stars but I’d like it if the ramp up speed was just a little slower.

And I’m hoping that Mr Ray will come out on iOS and android.

No ability to save DB registrations???

I play the real thing regularly, and there is one feature that, IMHO, absolutely needs to be added before this can be a viable live-use instrument: the ability to SAVE drawbar registrations!! When you are working with only a single set of drawbars rather than the real thing’s A/B sets, having the ability to bounce to alternate registrations QUICKLY with presets becomes pretty essential, PARTICULARLY if you are also playing LH bass. Please, please, please, I’m begging, add this feature and let us map those drawbar registrations to MIDI triggers. And I mean just saving DB registrations, the way the reverse color keys work on the real thing, NOT saving whole configurations as in the current user presets.

Great app and.......

When I first heard the VB3 for PC I loved it. And when it was used as the engine for the Mojo I was sold. Kudos to Guido. I like the idea for this app and would like to see a few improvements such as user saved presets, midi learn, a clean setting on the drive knob
( all the way down, there is still a lot of drive at the zero point ), the Leslie speed switch also included on the organ page, maybe more presets too. I’m using my Mojo as midi controller and the drawbars and many of the buttons correspond. I notice my expression pedal only pushes the swell half way up though.
I think this is a great start and worth the price.

Wow. Thanks for the great update!

Finally! The Best Comes to iOS/iPadOS

For years, the GSi VB-3 has been the hands-down BEST B-3 and Rotary Speaker/Amp simulator available for Macs. And now, at long last, you can have that outstanding sound quality in your pocket! Outstanding App!
A Must Have!
