  • Fake app prevents you from reporting a problem

Unbelievably, PG&E’s “Report it” app requires you to first register your email address with them, then wait *SEVEN DAYS* while they process your registration BEFORE you can report a problem. Other than PG&E employees, first responders and other specialists, what % of the general public downloading the app will be doing so specifically to report an immediate problem? (and discovering the app won’t let them report it!) And what % of those people will never face a reportable problem with PG&E equipment other than that one time when they downloaded the app? This is clearly designed to help PG&E try to improve their horrible public image by saying “look at all the ways we’re offering the public to report problems”, while designing the app to make it impossible for a very high percentage of the public to report anything the one time they need to.

Thanks for your feedback. The Report It app is a pilot program for customers living in the highest risk wildfire areas. Customers in these areas were invited to use the app. If their email is on file with us, there’s no wait to submit a ticket. Others in lower wildfire risk areas can also use the app, but they may be subject to a wait of up to 7-days before they are granted access. The app was designed for non-emergency issues, so items requiring an urgent response should not be submitted using this app. If an issue needs immediate response, call 1-800-742-5000.
  • Fatal flaw

I wanted to report an arcing transformer outside my house. However the app doesn’t let me report anything until they “clear” my email. That can take up to 7 days? Guess I’ll just call their phone number and bypass the app as it’s currently useless to me.
  • I don’t think the lights are on at PG&E!

It’s 2022… you monitor your grid via Satellites, unmanned drones, and various wireless technologies, almost all the power meters are “SMART” and have the ability to share all sorts of data and statistics (in real time) that would be of great benefit to your customers (and their family members) that go UNDER UTILIZED….HOWEVER, you still do not have your own APP for your customers to manage their accounts or communicate with your team of customer service representatives!

You have taken the time, man power, and money to develop this glorified Google Map Safety app, but it’s not really finished, not fully deployed and you tell us it’s by “invitation only” Like it’s some sort of special club….ohhhhh! Awwww! There are only 40 reviews, probably from the 40 customers who have now deleted it from their phone because its of no use to them unless they were “invited” into your special club. And what’s with that 3.3 out of 5.0 stars? Apparently your Club members have turned on you!

Come on guys and gals… this is 2022, this is the great state of California, your headquarters are surrounded by companies whose entire existence is based on their APP (UBER, TWITTER, VRBO)… and this is the best you can do for us? I have resided in homes powered by PG&E my entire life (59 years worth), I want you to be the best there is in this Power Generation and Delivery game… I want to be able to tell my friends living in other states that my Power Company is BETTER than your power company!

But in the meantime, I will follow the link out of the APP over to some horse and buggy technology called the Internet, and add my EMAIL address (who still does this?) to your special list hoping that one day I’ll be Invited into your group… I’m thinking that it might be faster if I dig out my old TIN CANS and STRINGand “call” someone over there! But I’m pretty sure I recycled them already… this is California after all!
  • December 2021

It seems to work well enough. There is a waiting list on their website to get on before you download the app so you can log in fully.
  • What a waste

Upon my first use of the app, I could not complete past my first screen because “PG & E could not recognize my email address, and offered me to get on a waiting list”
Get on a waiting list to report a hazard?
    What a waste of time
  • Application works well

This is a valuable application in this current drought era. We can all do our part now to help PGE keep their power lines safe.

  • Unable to Submit Report

This app does not function and is useless—can’t make any progress beyond entering my email address.

  • Just downloaded and it doesn’t appear to work

Kind of a sad statement of PG&E overall. I received their large flashy introduction to a new app. Saying this is part of their new and improved safety toolkit.

I downloaded it, launched the app, it brings up a map and places me on the map. Then immediately flashes you a message say there is an “error cannot connect to the server, try again later wIth an OK button”

If this is part of a safety toolkit (their words) for report and view critical problems then you would think they would make sure the app was bulletproof.

  • App hangs up, II

Just downloaded the app, won’t let me scroll down to acknowledge it’s a concern, but not an emergency.

    What’s wrong with PG&E?

My neighbor’s oak tree dropped a limb and knocked out power to over 6,000 customers last Sunday. PG&E wouldn’t allow them to hire an arborist (too close to their lines) and they have been aware of the problem for months. Poor neighbors had no options, how expensive is it to do an emergency repair to the power lines and all the other utility lines???
