  • You NEED this app!

The Equal Eats app is such a lifesaver! As someone with celiac disease who travels the world, I really don’t know what I would do without it. The subscription gets you access to every available allergen in every language which is just invaluable. This is by far the most helpful resource for communicating dietary restrictions while traveling!
  • Unequal Eats

I bought a physical card for my alpha gal allergy that’s available on their website. They emailed me to download the app to have a digital card, so I did and made an account just to find out they don’t have a digital option for alpha gal. I can’t even make a custom card and select mammals/red meat. I get that there are a lot of allergies, but at least offer the same cards that are on your own website.

Also I don’t see why I need to download an app. I just want a digital card added to my Apple wallet that is the same as what I purchased. Seems like a scam to force an app downloads to get subs and user data.

We fully understand and happy to say Alpha Gal cards are coming this winter to the app. This is our newest card and it's simply not ready across all 50 languages yet. Our translation and review process is rigorous, and we wouldn't dream of releasing it until we're absolutely sure it's correct and accurate. We apologize this has been less than ideal, but we promise that we're on it! We've looked at Apple Wallet integration, and unfortunately it wouldn't show the sheer amount of allergy info that we can within our app. It wouldn't keep you as safe - and that's our top priority.
  • Great for Travel!

We’ve used our hard copies of our Equal Eats cards for the past year and had tremendous success using them in France, Italy and Switzerland while traveling with our 12yo with peanut and tree nut allergies. As she’s entering the age of using her own phone and devices, I love being able to have these available digitally and not just hard copies that remain with one person. It also allows my husband to use the same app to present them to waiters/chefs if he is with her dining out without me (especially since the cards seem to live in my purse!).
  • Allergy Must-Have!

This app provides easy use to translate food allergies, dietary restrictions, special diets and even other allergies (latex, insect, etc) THE best resource to have at your fingertips
  • Very helpful

These are wonderful for traveling with food allergies!
  • Works ok, but a money grab

The translations are good and we used them on our trip successfully. But the app does not work offline (a travel app!), does not remember the language you were using last, is slow to change languages, and has a greedy subscription model.

It’s clear the subscription is there just to extract recurring money from you not to add any value.

We probably would have been fine using a standard translate app instead of buying this, with all the negatives.

    Developer Response

Good news! Offline mode is now available! Also, you can now save your default language so it remembers for each use. Thanks for your feedback! We take it seriously and have invested in the continuous improvement of the app. Please be careful using any other translate app and double check translations. We use a three-tiered system to ensure accuracy. Our tech is continually improving (you have to start somewhere), but our process to ensure safe translations is steadfast and represents our true value.
