  • Autofocus not working

I am trying to do remote shooting using my OM-1 and 12-45 lens. In the app I set it to “M” mode. When I touch the phone screen to select where to focus, it looks like the camera focuses on the right area, however, when I take the picture it is not focused on that area, instead focusing to infinity. This is definitely an issue with the app, not the camera/lens, as it focuses fine during regular shooting. Please advise.

  • Useful but could be improved

I previously gave this app two stars and mentioned the slow transfer rate for wifi download, but the performance improved after formatting the SD card. I was also able to use my phone for other tasks that don’t require wifi or data connectivity.

I have changed my rating to five stars and decided to write a new review. (I’m keeping the previous review at the end of this review for the record.)

This app allows users to download photos from TG series cameras to iPhone without having to carry adapters or to take out the SD card from the camera. The added bonus is that I don’t even have to take out the camera from the marine case.

    The previous review:

“The overall design of the app is not bad, and it’s nice not to have to carry an extra adapter for the SD card. But the WiFi transmission speed is excruciatingly slow, and I can’t use my phone for other tasks while waiting for the photos to be downloaded. It also does not allow me to transfer data while being charged via USB. When it comes to video data, I usually have to leave it on overnight, which means I wake up with an empty battery for the next morning’s dives. Not being able to sync donwload information across devices is also a problem because it results in duplicate donwloads. Good idea but needs a lot of improvements.”

  • So slow my camera battery dies

The app and the interface are fine for basic functions. Not good, not excellent, just fine. Where this app really loses it is downloading from the camera to my iPhone. I currently have 231 RAW image files (stills) on my camera. I have no problems connecting to my camera (TG-6) and initiating the download, but it takes SO LONG to download that even when starting with a fresh battery, the camera goes dead before the app downloads all the photos. To make it worse, ALL information that does get downloaded is useless because the app needs to complete the ENTIRE download to finish the process. In other words, it doesn’t download all of image 1, then all of image 2, etc. it downloads 99% of image 1 then 99% of image 2, etc. and the last 1% of each file is written at the conclusion of the download process. So even after I leave my phone and camera connected for over 2 hours, when the camera battery dies I have ZERO photos on my phone. I have about 200 partial images taking up space that I have to delete in order to start the whole process over again.

  • Works great underwater, basic scenics, wireless upload

UNDERWATER stills better than any point and shoot I've used. MACRO/ Close-up is superb!!
No problems with water issues; a good fresh water soak& rinse necessary. On board FLASH is definitely helpful for color fill-in UW w/i 7ft.

The WIRELESS upload to iPhone mostly easy to use, sometimes recognizes Phone next time, sometimes not- have to run through setup again,(a couple extra minutes once you're used to it). I'm trying to do same with my Nikon land camera, Olympus "Oi" seems easier.
It's quick with pictures, but slow upload video- keep your videos to 10-30" clips, and upload them last.

Overall great little adventure / UW camera, when you don't want to leave your iPhone on the beach while you swim. Above water works fine, but limited compared to Phone.

SAVE yourself some trouble, and just pay the $40 for the Oly. lens cap (don't get sand in the cap!). Also for $5-10, buy a floating wrist cord.

  • Used To Work

I’ve been using the original Olympus Imageshare since 2015. Worked fine. Since the last update, however, I have had to manually connect in camera settings and when I got import images, says there’s nothing to import. So it has become useless for intended purpose which is to quickly get images to iPhone for SM posts. Not sure what changed. My camera is older EM 10, but frankly that should not matter. Maybe new camera will change it but apps are not always well made.

  • camera shall allow use BT (low power consumption) standby

the app is convenience, but either need manually run on wireless (BT, Wi-Fi), or otherwise keep it always on drain battery power really quick

suggest allow camera body BT (low power mode) always standby for mobile phones connect, once app connects via BT, then trigger body tune on Wi-Fi when body detects Bt connected and app function need higher speed connection

compared it with Canon eid rebel SL2 and canon app , sl2 better does last much longer

  • Great app for live view but needs to allow focus peaking or magnified view

I use this app with my PEN E-P7 and telescopes and other very long manual focus lenses for distant shots Like perched hawks, the Moon, planets but the live view doesn’t support the manual focus assist magnified window or peaking options and they aren’t available on the camera, while the app is connected.

Otherwise the need for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth both is cumbersome, seems like either connection should work by itself.

  • Almost there

In general what it has works fairly well. Remote shutter in live view, even if they are nearby there is noticeable lag at some points.
My biggest issue is that as a photojournalist I shoot with 2+ cameras and the app only allows 1 to be registered at a time. A camera that is not registered won’t be able to use BT for remote shutter as an example.
Wish the app would allow me to delete images when i am reviewing from it, rating would be amazing as well.
But the OM System is incredible, love shooting with the OM1s.

  • App stopped working

I have been using this Olympus sharing app for over a year with no major issues, but now that I have purchased a newer Olympus camera and want to connect it to the App it does not work. Worst of all there are no clear instructions on how to remove my older (fairly new) camera so I can use the app with my most recent OM1 purchase.
