Terribly Inaccurate!

I first downloaded this app about a year ago and quickly realized the readings were very inaccurate. The tests always showed me in the healthy range, though I struggle constantly with iron deficient anemia. Today, my doctor ordered a blood transfusion after getting my lab results back. I decided to try the app to see if it detected the low levels. Nope, it gave me scores of 14+ both times I tested.

I can’t understand how they advertise this app as being effective if it’s so far off. Obviously it’s not meant to be diagnostic, but I can’t see it being helpful at all. I have read that these types of tests can be less accurate for people of color, but they should include a disclaimer if that’s the case. Bent fingers also have more pigment in the nail bed than when they are straight, so I wonder if that leads to higher readings.

Either way, I have no use for this trash app, so I deleted it today. Just want to warn people not to rely on it, especially if you are anemic.

Saved me from my own supplement ignorance!

About 6 weeks ago, I started taking B12 and folate due to respective deficiencies and thought, why not throw in a combined zinc (50mg) and copper (2mg) supplement?

Within the last week I tried this app and was surprised to see my iron scores consistently well below the cutoff. I questioned my recent supplement usage, which led me to an abundance of medical studies documenting copper deficiency due to excess zinc.

I most likely have malabsorption problems, but the combined zinc/copper supplement certainly didn’t help things.

Hi Bryan, Thanks for sharing your AnemoCheck Mobile experience with us! We're happy to hear that the app has been valuable to you and has helped you identify new health leanings.

If I could give 0 I would NOT accurate

I suffer from anemia for the past 25 yrs. I get iron transfusions regularly. I found this program and excited to have a way to watch my levels to know when it starts dropping. I went to the hospital had hemoglobin checked 9.1. Which everyone knows is low I knew I needed iron but could not get scheduled for 2 weeks. I work 12 plus hrs a day 6 days a week very stressful go go go job. I was doing liquid iron at home trying to stabilize my levels. The app continued to show 11.2 which was the same day I got out of ER so I knew it was off but I did scan every day and it changed to 13.6 which is amazing for me until I blacked out at work driving! Back to ER hemoglobin 8.1. So I cancel the subscription THEN they charge my card sorry but this app doesn’t work and I want a refund I removed the app before you charged my card so no I won’t give you $10 for a month when relying on your app could have killed me

Excited for reliable home testing options

As the developers have stated there’s room for improvement with this app, and I’m excited for a day when it does provide reliable results. For a healthy individual, this is a great option to give you an idea. Unfortunately, for those that actually need this, it’s not reliable yet. I have faith that maybe someday it will be though!

As a mom of a kiddo with hemolytic anemia, conditions with the same symptoms, on top of delicate and difficult veins; this would be an absolute game changer. We’re only a month into this nightmare, and truthfully I haven’t really known when it was time to take her in since the first time she was hospitalized. That was only because she was ghost white with a yellow tinge and couldn’t keep anything down. Four transfusions and two hospitalizations later, I’m constantly second guessing myself. Is it her POTS, autonomic dysfunction, or is she hemolyzing again?? This poor kid is a tough poke, her veins go flat or blow extremely easily; so her poor arms are covered in bruises from draws and IV’s.

When we tried the app we had decent natural lighting, her first reading was 11.3 the second a few minutes later was 14.5. When I tried myself it said 10.3, which I know from recent bloodwork is no where close to accurate (not even the +\- 2.4 points). I’m hopeful that development and research continues because this would be so amazing for IMHA and anemia patients in general.

Disappointed

I really wanted to love this because I need it! I am an HHT patient that often requires blood transfusions and iron infusions. The results on anemocheck vary 5 whole points in a day, or in within a few minutes. I can not trust the accuracy. Been giving it time to calibrate to my blood test results, but it still is unreliable. Because of a special promo discount, I purchased the app for a year. I am regretting that choice. It didn’t save me, it’s costing me -money and peace of mind. I really wished this worked for me as other people are reviewing.

Won’t take a photo…

I was excited about this app but it won’t take a picture - it just “spins” and then tells me something went wrong. Using manual or auto, with a lot of light or less, with my hand turned this way or that - nothing works. If I need to wait a while then it needs to give instructions on time to wait or troubleshoot how to reposition my hand.
I wanted to recommend this to patients or for research but if I can’t get it to work how can I ask others to use it.

Developers do not respond to emails

Sent a few emails to multiple email address one provided in App Store and other straight from the app. Have not heard back yet. Guess they do not monitor their emails or just ignore them.

Overall I am very happy to have found and used this app. It’s a life changer… Just wish we had more support on the backend.

-2 stars for no response. Would have given it a 5

blurry pictures

One of the things the instructions tells you to follow the instructions so the nails don’t come out blurry. I took 3 pictures and they were all blurry my blood levels went from 13.1 right hand to 14.1 to 14 left hand all within 10 minutes.. I’m trying to figure how accurate it is since I’m feeling tired. I’ll test it with indoor natural light tomorrow and see how it comes out

Incredibly Inaccurate

I am known to have severe anemia, which causes my hemoglobin and hematocrit to drop resulting in very low levels.
Although I had high hopes for this app, they quickly diminished as routine blood draws show wildly different results than this app…
For example, last week the app stated that my hemoglobin was 11.4 while the blood test produced results of 5.6
This is a good concept, however, is absolutely not something that should be taken too seriously when charting any sort of result.

I hope for more

This is a great idea. I hope that the accuracy is good enough to make a decision about when to go to the doctor or hospital as I am very anemic and tend to drop rapidly causing a situation to get out of control and require me to need a blood transfusion with little warning. If this works, I could live a very different lifestyle that could include going back to work and thriving again. I will do anything needed to aid in improving this app and this technology if it helps me live again.
