No real point

Clunky layout and never shows the cars anyways

Doesn’t track shuttles most of the time

What’s the point of a shuttle tracker when it doesn’t track any shuttles. Most of the time the map is empty while shuttles are coming and going

Response from developer

Thanks for the review! There are some known issues with the GPS data-feed that the buses provide to us. We’re working on an innovative, custom solution with our own tracking hardware; we’ll have more to share later this year. In the meantime, remember to use Board Bus whenever you ride the shuttle! Tapping the Board Bus button lets us use your location to provide tracking for buses that don’t otherwise have GPS data. If you have any questions or comments, then please send an email to support@shuttletracker.app. We’ll address your concerns so that you feel comfortable leaving a more positive review. 🙂

This is the best Shuttle Tracking app at RPI!!!

I can honestly say there does not exist a better shuttle-tracking app at RPI. Sometimes it almost works! It is also written in Swift which is the best language

Don’t work

Just straight up crashes, doesn’t even open

Response from developer

This is a known issue on iOS 14, but we’ve so far been unable to locate the cause of the crash. In the meantime, we recommend that you update to iOS 15 to continue using Shuttle Tracker. Please send us an email at support@shuttletracker.app so that we can work out the issue. Thanks!

What happened?

More of a survey than a tracking app

Response from developer

I’m assuming that you’re referring to our new crowd-sourcing feature. Unfortunately, RPI started using many new buses that don’t have GPS trackers in them, so we built a crowd-sourcing system to make up for the fact that we otherwise have no way to show those new buses on the map. That’s why the app always asks that you tap the “Board Bus” button; doing so lets us use your real-time location to make Shuttle Tracker more accurate for everyone. (Shuttle Tracker respects your privacy by design; tap the info button in the top-left corner of the app to learn more about how we protect your privacy with the crowd-sourcing feature.) We want to follow up with you to figure out what specific improvements we can make to Shuttle Tracker. Please send us an email at support@shuttletracker.app. Thanks!

slow and innaccurate

I liked the website much better. Shuttles often disappear on the map and it takes a while to reload. Sometimes the app is fine but other times it simply does not work.

Response from developer

Unfortunately, the shuttles’ disappearing is due to more limited location data that we’re getting this semester, mostly with the Yankee Trails buses, for which the only location data that we have is crowd-sourced. This issue affects both the app and the old website. The whole point of the crowd-sourcing feature is to improve the accuracy for all of the buses, especially the ones that don’t have any GPS hardware on board. We’re actively working on new features that make crowd-sourcing even easier. In the meantime, remember to tap “Board Bus” every time you board the shuttle! We would like to work with you directly to ensure that your issues with Shuttle Tracker are properly addressed. Please send us an email at support@shuttletracker.app. Thanks!

Most amazing shuttle tracker I’ve ever used

This app is the best. Now I can get to classes on time! Yay! If you’re an RPI student this app is a must-have.
