  • Fantastic skin care directory app

For a new app, it works really well and has so much info. Those who are saying it's the same info as Caroline’s website may be right, however now I can save products to favourites so they are all in one place, (including a separate area for ones I want to try) plus I can filter by brand, product, skin condition, you name it, and get product recommendations and info on all the products in an easy to navigate app. This app has so much I'm yet to explore, but so far I see the usefulness of having this product directory easily to hand in a useful app! I'm looking forward to furthering updates as it's a great app to start with! Well done CH and SR team!

  • The skin care app I’ve needed for years!!!

I’ve been playing around with this app for a couple hours now and I’m obsessed. I’m a long time Hirons fan and this app is exactly what I’d expect of her. There’s a ton no no sense skin care explanations, routine suggestions and product reviews. It makes it incredibly easy for me to look up skin care and get the info I need (namely ingredients, is it suitable for my skin type, and where does it go in my routine).

It lets me create lists of what I want and what I have and I’ve already caught a few products that I’ve been using that might be causing some of the skin issues I’m having (seriously why are ingredients so hard to find?)

The app also matches products to your skin concerns letting you know with a really visible tag if a product is likely to work for you. It makes browsing a bit faster.

I also really appreciate the reminders that skin care isn’t worth putting on your credit card and that there are options for your budget ( because I do frequently need that reminder 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️).

The only thing I can think of that I’d like to see added is an expanded routine feature that would let me sort my specific products into where they would go best in my routine so I can more easily see where gaps are. Possibly even with some recommendations based on skin concerns for where you might want to expand your routine (not even necessarily specific product recs but like hey you say you have dry skin have you considered adding some hyaluronic acid somewhere?).

That last one might be tricky because I do really love that this app despite all of the product info etc doesn’t feel even a little bit like it’s trying to sell you something. It just the super accessible and convenient and specific skin care info that I’ve been getting from Ms. Hirons for years now but conveniently packaged and all in one place :)

So yea, if you have even a passing interest in skin care you need this; it’s amazing!!!!

  • YES!

Do yourself a favor and download the app! It’s as if Ms. Hirons’ blog posts—which she’s been doing since, like, 2010?—got super organized and easily searchable and customizable. Yes, you can enter your info and track products you own and would like to buy. Yes, you can enter your skin concerns and look up products for those concerns. To the person who wrote “it’s too wide,” Ms. Hirons literally WROTE A BOOK listing skin concerns and specific products to treat those concerns. Love the book, love this app, love her! Thank you for such a well thought out, easy to use, FREE resource!

Love the app but will there be an update to currency? I’m in Australia but the associated currency is GBP only

  • Super user friendly!

This app has everything you need when it comes to skincare! It’s super easy to use, has a questionnaire about skin type and concerns and even suggests products! Not only that but it tells you how to use them as well!! I love the “products I want” section!

  • Like Google Translate for skincare

What an excellent app. A go to place for everything skincare. Informative and insightful articles as well as product guidance by skin type, product type and ingredient. No more wasted money buying products that aren’t suitable for my skin or that contraindicate with other products already in my routine. The guide on where products fit into a routine and whether it’s AM or PM use is also invaluable. It’s like Google Translate for skincare and I love it. Skin really does Rock 🤘🏻

  • Why?

I adore Caroline Hirons and respect all of her advice and love her sense of humour and humanitarian opinions, but I genuinely can’t see any use or purpose for this App. It looks pretty and the articles are good, but very similar content is easily available on her website. The products are just a massive list of everything there is on the market, and any of the “guidance” comments that appear are extremely generic and repetitive. I would expect a skincare app to offer much more in terms of assistance with choosing routines and products that suit the skin concerns the user has specified. This is basically like a huge department store listing it’s offerings but with no purchase functionality. A bit like a Love Island contestant - pretty but pointless.

Hello Meno McGee, your feedback is valuable to us and we take your comments on board while we seek to make improvements. The core proposition of Skin Rocks and the app particularly, is to be the central reference point for skin. With Caroline as our Founder, Skin Rocks was built on the same foundation as the blog - to give people somewhere to go for clear, factual information about skin. Skin Rocks is peppered with Caroline, but in expertise over opinion. Kindest, Lucy - Skin Rocks Team.
  • Seems to have no Caroline Hirons advice content

This app is predominantly a list of all skincare available. There is very little to no advice component which is what CH is all about. I understand the cost of AI that would be needed to provide personal advice so I don’t expect that for free, but..

It could be made a more useful imo by adding for example:

    - an option to add products I’ve tried (rather than just have got or would like)
    - a functionality to keep my notes on products to remind myself what I did or didn’t like
    - a filter for ‘CH recommends’. Presently I get over 600 products which suit my skin type and concern. This is unwieldy, I want to be able to filter down.
    - a filter for availability would be great for those outside the UK and so we know what gems to look for when travelling

It feels like this app is still very much in the design phase and should have been launched very softly to get feedback and develop it properly before the 🍾

Good luck as it has potential, just not there yet

  • Too wide which makes it difficult to navigate.

Wish I understood why every product under the sun is added. I understand CH said neutrality but it’s not what I come to Caroline Hirons for. I’m looking for specific quality advice to circumvent wading through the mass of products I could find by googling. An app featuring all products Caroline recommends with who they are for and with the extra info given in the how tos would be so useful.

I would love to hear what the idea was for doing it this way.
