Pretty great

The app has had flaws and there’s still room to optimize the user experience, but the dev team has done an awesome job quashing bugs. Seriously, well done guys!

Unoptimized

Where do I begin?
If you minimize the app in the background, you have to close and reopen the app or it will be stuck and not refresh your finished buildings. When you select a building, going back to the list of buildings is extremely janky and buggy. The whole app has a few seconds delay. Sometimes you have to click to build something 5 times before it accepts. Sometimes you have enough resources to build something, but the app doesn’t let you do it. I’m playing on fiber optics internet with 1gb dl and upload on a fairly new iPhone, I know this is not caused by anything on my side.

I appreciate the efforts being put into making a mobile version of the game. It makes it more enjoyable compared to the zooming and scrolling of the desktop version in a mobile browser.

There are some points though that make the app unusable compared to the web version on the phone. If these could be addressed that would be great and I’d prefer to use the app if some were addressed.
1. Dispatch fleet is still broken for me after the latest update. I’ve been able to use the button 1 out of every 3 to 4 tries and usually end up restarting the app to get it to work. For someone doing expeditions and fleet saves this bug makes the app unusable.
2. The bottom menu buttons used to be customizable but I’m not sure if that feature changed because I can’t seem to figure out how to move fleets or other options to the main menu and customize it like previous versions. If this functionality is there a little tip or hint would be helpful.
3. When clicking fleets for a moon or planet it would be nice to show the quantity of that particular fleet with a dispatch option like in the desktop app. Right now it just goes to fleet movement with the option to dispatch.
4. Rewards are missing from the app. When there is rewards week it’s required to use the desktop version to complete tasks and collect rewards. This would be nice to have in app next to inventory if possible.
5. Build icons are missing from the planet / moon view while in list mode. This is a nice feature to see active construction but not a deal breaker.

Overall the look and feel of the app is enjoyable and just hoping to see more functionality implemented.

We would need some data from you like the model of your device and installation ID, you can contact Pinky or Prongs on Discord channel (https://discord.gg/OGame) and forward that information. We are preparing some changes that will also improve the points 2 and 3. Regarding point 4 and 5, we are still working to implement and improve the app.

Market tab says coming soon…..

When you go to the market tab most of the sun sets say coming soon. OGame advertises import/export specials but the tab has been saying for months, “coming soon.” What is going on?

Hi!Unfortunately, those events are still not available on the app, only on the browser version. We hope to have it in the app in a not so far future.

Very disappointing

Update: After many updates to the mobile app, it has gotten worse not better. These guys are completely incapable of running a mobile development effort. And the browser game that has been around for decades is showing its age. It doesnt work properly on Safari, Chrome or Edge on mobile. So it is only playable on PC. Really good game but poorly executed kills all the fun. Deleting my account after 5 months.

After 3 months of trying to use the app, and multiple attempts to report and discuss via their Discord server, Gameforge is 100% unresponsive. They don’t monitor the very active Discord channels, and keep releasing new features but not fixing basic gameplay bugs. It is totally unusable. App deleted. I can tell they don’t do beta testing, and what’s worse is that Apple and Android both have beta test tools to help. Previous update: After trying to use this app a lot, it is really bad. From a massive lack of features to riddled with bugs, I resorted to using the browser on my phone. It’s just so buggy, I can’t believe they released it to the general public. From a fellow app and web developer: not good. My original review: This promises to be a great game. If it were a good game, I’d be alright. But the UI is very weird and hard to figure out. The advancement takes a long time at startup. And it is plagued with bugs. First bug: if you queue advancements, it takes the resources out of inventory, then when it comes time to do it, you are too low to do what it already took out. Second: try sending the fleet on missions. Errors that the target or mission is invalid, and you cant even launch your first fleet. And finally, I was unable to set up an account for support, they never sent out the validation email. This is in Beta if not Alpha, definitely not ready for release. And let’s not get started on the name. OGame? Perhaps the developer was Irish?

The last update brought some unexpected problems regarding the fleets, menus, etc. but we have already a new version to fix it, we are just waiting for Apple to approve it.

Real time resource calculations

As a returning player trying to get started having an app for the game is nice. However when in the app your resources do not always seem to calculate in real time. Sometimes it will keep ticking up and other times it will freeze on the same amount of resources for 5-10 minutes at a time and then jump.
There needs to be a way to manually refresh the page without going back to lobby and logging back in.

It’s okay if you also play the browser version.

The game is good, however the app makes it a struggle to play smoothly. Latest patch notes said they fixed the dispatch fleet button,
However on multiple occasions did say 80% of the time when I click *dispatch fleet* game tells me I have no ships on this planet, When in fact I do. Makes playing anything late game a struggle due to not being able to reliably fleet save.
Building ships or defenses, works fine but the “max” is never right. It only looks at whatever resource you have the most of. (I.E Light Laser takes 1500 metal 500 Crystal. If I have 1500 metal and 5000 Crystal it will say I can build 10 Light Lasers which is not true I can only build one.

No trader functions, chat, or rewards like on the browser. They did say they are working on it so I won’t knock them on that. But it does mean the app is best played along side the browsers version and not as a stand alone alternative.
