  • Divine Chaos

I dont normally write reviews but I want everyone to know what happened on my first day: my king was murdered, I suspect the prince. The prince got mad I chose another heir and offed my best cook, I made him marry the cooks widow because its only right he is responsible for the two children left behind. Most of my people found out about the princes murderings and call him out. He then murders my warrior chick that caught him which led to the people wanting him banished. So I banish him and again I leave a widower so I hook up the original widow with the other widow (at this point my first widow has been married 3 times) its been absolute chaos but I love it
  • Fun and Chill

I liked Fallout Shelter and Blades. This is basically a more forgiving Fallout Shelter with more systems to make for crazy stories that happen in your castle. Choices have consequences. I told a character something like “blah blah blah pay my tax” and they straight up assassinated me! Then, later the others got mad at her and I chose for the next king to banish her. Fun stuff. That said, it isn’t a “reskinned” Fallout Shelter, whoever says that hasn’t played this more than 20 minutes. It could learn a bit from Shelter though, like giving us a list of workers in the castle so we can track them better. Also, no male/female distinction? Weird, but OK fantasy so whatever. The in app purchases are a little pricey so I’ll be skipping that. I can see myself playing this for a while, it’s unironically more fun than Zenless Zone Zero lol. Rating 4 right now because it doesn’t allow me to listen to video or music in background while playing. If that changes I’ll pump it to 5 stars.
  • Great Concept, but Disappointing Execution

I was excited to dive into The Elder Scrolls: Castles, and while the concept is solid, it feels like the game is more focused on squeezing money from players than delivering an enjoyable experience. The forced age progression is especially frustrating—rare and special characters that you work hard to obtain will eventually die off, which makes it hard to feel truly invested in building your kingdom.

On top of that, there are a lot of limited-time options, and it seems like you’re constantly being nudged to spend money to get the most out of the game. The subscription model, which gives daily items, is another issue—if you don’t log in daily, your characters age and die faster, making it feel like a constant chore just to keep up.

Overall, the game could have been great, but the monetization model and forced progression take away from the fun. It feels like the game is pushing you to pay rather than enjoy the experience.
  • Good game! NO FORCED ADS so far

Love bethesda games and not a super big fan of elder scrolls but this is fun to pass some time when away from xbox. Once i got to level 20 the pace slowed down quite a bit and turns more into an idle game while you wait for recourses, still plenty to tinker with for now in between. I also like that there are no ads unless you choose to watch them.
12 hours of run time and no complaints so far. I also picked the wrong person in the beginning and was upset and then later found out it didn’t really matter and theres tons of other opportunities haha
  • Awesome but with one problem

This game feels really great to play.
It’s fun to build, watch your subjects do things, and complete tasks. I also like the concept of one day is one year because it makes it feel more like there are little people living in my phone. Although this does look completely different for what an elder scrolls game is supposed to look, i think it makes sense since it’s mobile (it looks nice and funny too).

The one problem: a subscription option to access the rest of the rewards.
I’m not against in app purchases being in games (fallout shelter had them and they were fine), but requiring a subscription to access the rest of the rewards when you level up is pretty bad. It’s only really bad with the current price that it’s set up with.
I do not think that $7 a WEEK or $14 a month makes sense for this game especially considering that some of the special rewards is getting special subjects (since they can age and eventually die).

This game is great and I think it would be more fun if you just either got rid of the subscription, offer different things other than lock rewards when leveling up, or just make the subscription cheaper.
This is a simulation game. The most that I would personally be happy paying for a month is like $4. That’s about the same price as having an online realm in Minecraft.

Besides the awful subscription price / locked rewards for leveling up. It’s a great game that I’d be happy to recommend my friends.
  • Species

I just downloaded this today and I LOVE it. It’s amazing game! I want to recommend to add new species of hybrid animals with humans. Like there already have cats and dragons or lizards, I don’t mind to see dogs! More animals, rabbits, dogs, and or something else. Trying to be varies, know what I mean? And skintone, there black and white. If white and black married and have children, there should be light skin or brownish skin. But other than that, it is awesome! Not just that, need more fur colors, white cat, black, multiply color. Same goes to dogs and other hybrid if you gonna add other species
  • It’s fine

It’s really annoying that I can’t select a room without selecting a npc. Same problem in fallout shelter. I couldn’t select a room without selecting an npc. I figured they would’ve been able to fix that by now, but I guess not. I’m completely zoomed out and I go to select a station and it selects an npc when obviously I’m trying to select a station because I can’t even see the npcs. Oh and all the micro transactions are annoying. They’re expected, but I’m tired of seeing a notification badge on the store the whole time I play when there’s nothing there, it’s just to get me to look at the store.
  • Mostly Great

The only things I don’t like is having to zoom in too far to select the room so you can manage its helpers. Fallout shelter was better at that but I always liked Elder Scrolls more and this is new but I still like it more. As a suggestion, zoom out the map a bit more when I drag someone somewhere else and increase the speed of dragging someone. (I may have kinda messed up my layout/positioning of rooms on my first try) I wanted to restart after my Ulfric Stormcloak got stabbed in the back but if Fallout Shelter can be one of my platinum trophies on PlayStation, I can do this on iPhone. One more thing until I remember anything else is I had no oil or food but it was clickable to refill. Instead I went to the rulings because I look forward to them but it made me choose something about resources being low and if I knew I would’ve clicked mine first. You live and you learn but this seems like an early thing that might get fixed as I’m typing it. Anyway I was on this game since it was playable because it’s thats playable and where you don’t have to wait horribly long plus I have to find a replacement for Game Given Ulfric(partially my fault)
  • Needs a bit more.

I really enjoy this game but I don’t think it’s extensive enough. I feel like once you reach level 20 that’s about as interesting as it gets as far as castle activities. the children just wonder or jump on the communal bed that they were conceived on (add a school or daycare) Maybe add royal quarters as well for the king and queen to sleep and have children. commons quarters as well. I think this could be a great game is there where more customization. I enjoy is but it’s kind of flat.
  • Was very excited for this.

Since the release of Fallout Shelter, I had hopes that Bethesda would release a similar game for the Elder Scrolls franchise. What we received, in terms of content, is fun, engaging, and rewarding. My main gripe is the overwhelming amount of absurdly priced bundles.
The anger I felt when I saw the $4.99 weekly charge for the Emperor’s Pass was palpable. I was sitting beside a friend, who knew that I’d been waiting for this game’s release, and he immediately knew that something was wrong. When he asked me what was wrong, I showed him the in-game store. We both let out a groan of frustration at the fact that a meal at a typical restaurant costs less than a month of the Emperor’s Pass.
A lot of useful items and unique characters are locked behind the store page or the pass. I can tell this game is not free-to-play friendly.
