  • Fun time waster but a bit on the rails

Castles is fun if you’re bored of Fallout Shelter but it doesn’t seem to ever “let you go” like Shelter does and instead keeps you upgrading rooms and tapping tutorial screens away and encouraging you to spend and spend and spend in their store. Not yet sure what the risk is supposed to be as everything falls together without much thought or threat. It’s also annoying to play on a phone because everything is so tightly placed together that misclicks and accidental swipes are common. At least the music is good and for now this will be my waiting room game.
  • Amazing game but…

So I don’t usually write the reviews, but this game is so good. but there’s just a few things that I wish you guys would add a little backstory before I start. I have played Skyrim since I ever knew what video games were. so you can tell how much I love the your studios and the games that they make let’s get into it. I think that you guys should add the ability to manually banish people or send them to the chopping block because I was playing and this very loyal noble was helping me out and helping me weed out any traitors amongst my ranks and then he got assassinated for it and I was left with wanting to dish out justice and execute him, but I couldn’t so instead I resorted to sending them off on a mission with nothing but iron sword, developers. I really do hope that you guys see this review, and do something about this because we need the ability to execute or banish people manually that is it’s not right that that man is allowed to walk free or i don’t know add a jail to the game also another cool thing that I think you guys should add would be a mass scale army versus army battles. I think that would be something really cool. Seeing as in how Tamriel knows nothing but war. I just found it odd that I’m a king with no army anyways please developer if you do anything see this review and let me know that you saw it so that I don’t feel like I’m talking to a wall
  • Bethesda, STOP wasting your time - focus on TESVI!

This game is uninspired and redundant, ultimately failing to capture the essence of an Elder Scrolls title. Nothing about its design or identity feels even remotely close with the spirit of the series. It feels as though it was developed by a team who heard about the franchise through others who also heard about the series from those who actually played it. This game lacks the care and effort needed to stay honest to its roots. The graphics are underwhelming, the story is virtually non-existent, and creativity is limited.

I understand this game isn’t meant to be a direct replica of an ES title. Like Fallout Shelter is to Fallout, it's supposed to be a light, cartoony, family-friendly spin-off. But even with that in mind, it’s just a disappointment. It’s unfortunate that time, money, and—most importantly—energy were invested into this when those resources could have been better spent on developing the future TESVI title.
  • Elder Scrolls Nerd

I love all thing ES. I’ve been playing Skyrim since its inception and have it on PS5. Online, played em. Blades, got it. Castles? Why not. It’s nothing fancy but it entertains me while I’m bored throughout the day. My castle in crawling with commoners more than nobles (because who wants those problems?). If Game Of Thrones taught me anything is a house full of nobles is a greater risk than commoners. I play a happy medium and keep my nobles happy (enough) more than most… commoners are who I focus on more. It’s a pretty amusing app and I have enjoyed it thus far even though it’s only been about a day. Give it a shot, at worst you hate it and delete it but maybe not. It’s crashed a few times but maybe because the server was overloaded or it’s just so new. Either way, let’s go!!!
  • Very fun, but could use some work.

I’ve played this game for hours already because it really is a lot of fun. The progression is quick, yet there’s enough content to keep in constantly interesting. Unfortunately, the Emperor’s Pass —this games version of a battle pass — is unreasonably expensive for a mobile game. I don’t foresee the vast majority of people outside of maybe content creators buying it.

    Things that could be improved:

    - The point and click is a bit hard sometimes which makes for a lot of zooming in and out, which can be nice because NPC’s have fairly entertaining conversation.
    - I wish there was a better way to view the overall efficiency of all the different work stations so I can better optimize.
    - Also, there are some aspects that I felt weren’t explained well enough at the beginning such as marriage and when people will or won’t have babies.

    Things I’ve enjoyed:

    - The fighting aspect is extremely basic, but plenty enough for this type of game. There is enough objective and interaction during fight to be satisfying enough for this type of game.
    - Like I said in intro, progression is quick and content is varied enough to keep you playing.
    - The ruling decisions are very entertaining and play a seemingly major aspect in the overall game.
    - The game looks really really good; there is an impressive attention to details for an Elder Scrolls game haha

I may report back after a few more days.
  • Great game with battery issues

Pros: great graphics, fun gameplay, very well designed UI, relaxing and enjoyable soundtrack, funny dialogue.

Cons: really the only con is the battery issues. I have an iPhone 15 pro max that I’ve had less than a year, and after about 10 or so minutes of playing, the battery was crazy hot and had gone down 12%…this is even with the graphics settings turned down.

I’m really enjoying this game, but I hope they address the battery overheating issues soon. Thank you!
  • Elder Scrolls Fallout Shelter

Quite literally Elder Scrolls themed Fallout Shelter, with lots of upgrades and changes where it makes sense. I was a decent fan of Shelter so i may be biased, but as far as a fun little kingdom sim on your phone this gets the job done and more. Its still a mobile game with mobile trappings and micro transactions, but at least in an hour of play i haven’t hit any unexpected glaring issues. I look forward to seeing how much i can do with my subjects! Since they actually can die of old age i hope i get a decent way to get more outside of kids.
  • Mixed bag

So I was waiting for this game for a bit. And man, I’m not impressed. I did not expect it to be another cookie-cutter game in the sense that there are a dozen games like this. Bethesda, I expected better from you. Eats through your battery and time, asking for money at every opportunity. Just wanted a nice Elder scrolls mobile game… it feels like Reigns mashed up with Fallout Shelter. That’s the game. Dial back the microtransactions. Do purchased characters die? Don’t know. Won’t waste money to find out. I may try again on battery saving mode… but this game did not entertain me.
  • Not really that fun

Besides them throwing cash grab at me first thing at shop and out of shop completing things and pops up to buy again is annoying when deciding if it’s a game to invest long term or not. Games not bad for type of game, but has it’s issues and probably needed more thought or ideas put in it to make it better. Battle on dragging to target is bad, much easier on fallout shelter dragging to enemy then on here toward the feet that feels clunky and feels like you can miss targeting or a pain to target when it don’t want to work right. Same with arrow's feels clunky when marking as it feels like a delay or something then again maybe a delay. Like the devs didn’t try playing their own game. Also feels like some things in cash shop are over priced for the times we are in. Feels like the weekly and monthly are overpriced for the type of game it is and how lack luster it feels. If you enjoy this then play it, I’ll probably pass and wait for more fun games later this and next month. Devs I don’t read comments so don’t bother responding. Response if you don’t care about the player base when more start to play.
  • So far ok but one major gripe.

I get the game just came out, but in what world is it ok to stop whatever you are listening to when the game is open?! And I don’t mean you can keep playing it by swiping down, nope it stops as soon as the focus returns to the game. The phone is on vibrate only, and the music and all audio is muted in the game settings yet the game still overrides all audio. Otherwise so far it seems to be a Fallout Shelter, which I enjoyed, inspired game with some kind of Reigns-esque ruling decisions. It may get better as I play it but the major factor in my rating so far is the game audio being forced, can’t be bothered to play if I can’t use my own audio.
