Age required??

When you first launch the app it asks you for your name and date of birth, and tells you both are optional. But if you leave them blank it populates your birthday as the current date, 2011, effectively telling the app you’re 13 years old. The date can be changed, but cannot be deleted. I’d appreciate some simple checkboxes in events, like “show me events for kids, young adults, older adults” etc so I can search for what I want when I want. But this “tell us how old you are and we’ll hand you things we think are age-appropriate for you” is making way too many assumptions about what I might be interested in.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your review. We are always looking for ways to improve the My CHI. app overall, and we apologize for the age experience you had. Based on your feedback, we are updating the app to remove automatic age selection, so please expect an update to be released soon. To provide a custom experience for any user, the app offers users the ability to provide their age, general interests, and location to create a dynamic home screen that filters through thousands of opportunities that meet these criteria. Home page recommendations are sorted based on location proximity, in order to suggest opportunities to a user that could be more feasible to attend. To explore more specific interests you may have, we recommend using the “Explore” view, which allows you to add as many or few parameters as you like (including filtering for different ages). We hope this helps, and thank you again for your time in submitting this review!

Comprehensive List of Events

I appreciate that this app includes events from various organizations including the park district and the library, but I hope they can continue to get more community organizations to include their events and programs on this app.

Also, I wish there was an easy way to filter events by location or organization (for example, filtering only library events or filtering only events at a specific park).

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your review, we are always looking for ways to improve the app, and the My CHI. experience overall. We have been actively pursuing new community organizations to be in the app, and are always open to new organizations joining the app. The design and development team is also looking for better ways to showcase the smaller organizations so they don’t get lost amongst some of the larger hosts, so keep an eye out for an update there. To filter for only library events or a specific park, the best ways would be to either use the map feature (within explore) and zoom in on the park or library you would like, or use the search function (within explore) and search the library or park you would like. I hope this helps. Thank you again for your time in submitting this review!

The best app ever!

I love this app because I can now find clubs and job opportunities easily! I have been looking for an easy way to find things to do and job opportunities and here it is! Thank you so much Chicago!

Great way to get kids out and engaged!

So many different ways to get kids engaged this summer and beyond! Can filter by location, type of programs and so much more.

Easy to use. Very helpful.

I needed to find something to get my kid out of the house during summer break. He was able to find so many summer programs and opportunities through the app.
