A masterpiece of discovery, charm, and strategy
I love this game !!! I remember playing the original, figuring it out for myself while enjoying the beautiful graphics and sound effects. Since then, each iteration creates new moments of wonder and amazement. The citizens are so funny to watch sometimes, especially the pesky banker who will do ANYTHING to not give you your coin! Lolz
The strategy is deep yet not over complicated. How you balance money, building, recruiting, and fighting creates tons of opportunity to play the way you want. For example, mare you gonna invest in rebuilding your boat and go to the next island or try and take out greed on the current island ? Or can you do both ;)96
Also, no technical issues on iOS iPhone 15. But there are issues on computer so heads up .
Oh and take good care of your hermits !

Inexplicable glitches
Maybe the most beautiful pixel art I’ve ever seen. Also, deceptively simple—only complicated by the fact that there is no tutorial, no explanation, no tool tips for what things are, etc. But you can run back and forth until you figure it out.
Rendered more or less unplayable by bizarre glitches, like NPCs disappearing. You can carry on your mount NPCs that do special upgrades. Seems to be the only way to get them back and forth to different islands. Except sometimes they vanish. It’s annoying that they occasionally jump off your mount (presumably out of fear?), and you have to pay a coin to get them back. But sometimes they vanish from the island completely. You have to rebuild a boat and sail back to where they came from to rehire them.
The worst glitch I’ve found so far (and the one that prompted me to leave a review) is the disappearance of all the builders. It doesn’t matter how many recruits I bring into town, the hammer rack is full. I’ve marked trees for chopping, paid to upgrade walls and arrow towers. The ship is a husk, unable to be completed. This was the thing that finally forced me to resort to scouring the internet—maybe I was missing some vital step. Maybe I’d inadvertently marked all the town’s inhabitants as warriors. As far as I can tell, the internet says the only way to move forward is to give up my crown. :(

Horrific lag
Managed to get decently far before I’d encounter such intense lag it would impact my entire device for minutes after closing the game
Beautiful game
I have been playing for years now. Every time I get a new platform I make sure I have this game on it. The colours are beautiful and the gameplay isn’t complicated.

LEMME PREFACE FIRST: I love this game.
I love that you can build a city to fortify and defend. I love that you can take people in and give them jobs. It’s absolutely GORGEOUS. I love the marriage between resource management and strategy. The fantasy elements are cool. There’s a lot going for this game

I think it’s a cool concept in an already fun game. But it’s frustrating to feel like you spent all this time on coins and resources, only to essentially be basically back where you started
*Instead*, maybe you could be able to bring some of your men with you, along with your boat not breaking.
That way, you get that feeling of expanding your horizons without feeling like you have to sacrifice the progress you’ve already made

To much money to spend on the boat!!
I make like no money so it takes forever to make the BOAT so can you stop the snowing feature off!!!
Excellent game but keeps crashing
This is one of the most addictive games I’ve ever played. Been playing it for months but recently it keeps on crashing and won’t let me save my games. Hopefully they run an update soon to fix the bugs
Great Game - Needs Updates
I finished this game after binge playing it for 4 days. Absolutely loved the artistry, music, and game play. I like many other reviewers, hated the stamina with the horse. I also felt that the gem upgrades for other animals to ride were useless (the bear, the iguana/dragon thing). Gem upgrades to bypass some materials was great. Would be better if you could have the gem storage earlier on. All in all great game, would recommend!

Walking simulator
It takes like a full in game day to get from one end of an island to the other. 5 minutes might not sound like a lot but when you’re trying to micromanage half the map it gets to be pretty frustrating having most of your time spent on just running around. The game obviously has a lot of heart put into it, but very little really happens. It’s mostly just repeating the same two tasks of gathering gold and then expanding your town by putting the gold into buildings and watching your villagers do the work for you. Occasionally you’ll unlock something or fight one of the portals but 90% of the game is still a walking simulator.
