  • Doesn’t work

Location permissions screen is too big for a small screen iPhone, so it won’t pair properly. I can get it to pair on an iPad, but it’s not useful to drive with. Worked fine with the Curt app, not with this one.
  • New app doesn’ work- even customer service can’t help

Like everyone else, we were forced to use the new app. The old one worked great, but this won’t function on the road. There we were- on vacation, loaded for camping with kids in the car. Start the brake app and… you need a new app. Download, install, get a new login, start the app, connect to the Bluetooth receiver, accept various warnings, and then an error message. Checked everything. Same error. Called tech help. 25 minutes of uninstalling, restarting, installing, etc. Still error. Finally I was told the device is “probably still working.” Not super reassuring for a safety device!
All this when the old app worked great for me. Do us all a favor and unlock the old app and quit wasting our time.

  • Get a real brake controller

This new app sucks. You have to give it permission to track EVERYTHING so they can sell it to the highest bidder. I try to protect my privacy as much as possible, I shouldn’t have to do so with this. The old app was better and more simple.
  • Does not work

I used the old Curt app and never had an issue. This app connected the very first time, then never worked again. I tried deleting and reinstalling, but it never connects. Essentially rendering my break controller useless.
  • Useless app

Used the Echo smart app for the last 4 years.
Yesterday I had to tow a travel trailer 300 miles home. Opened the app to test the braking only to find out I had to use a new app. Try to find wifi to download a new app in the middle of nowhere. Then having to find your login info. Then getting a message I need location services turned on which there is no location service for it in settings.
Luckily the controller still had the last settings still in it because I am over the app and CURT products. How can a company drop the ball on customers who they know travel and aren't able to download and update apps like they're sitting behind a desk in a comfy office chair.

  • Unusable, shame on Curt

The old Echo app worked well enough. They switched to this one, thus rendering my brake controller uncontrollable. First, they do not need my location for a brake controller yet they require it for the app. Ridiculous! Even if I turn on location services & give the app access, it still doesn’t work. Did not bother to troubleshoot the issue. What would happen if they updated the app or switched, again, to something else & caused another issue. And besides, I’m not giving them location access. Nope! Not for me. Deleted app & had a wired in brake controller installed. So much better! Curt has lost a customer.

  • Burned up my brake magnets

Used Echo for 4 years and no problems. Hooked on travel trailer to go to Black Mesa, OK to see Persides meteor showers, 6 hrs away. Before leaving home we noticed the Echo app stated we needed to update to a different App through the Echo app. Now named One Control Auto. After a mile from home we noticed smoke coming from right side axles. All 4 electric magnets were burned up, including wires from magnets. Burnt wiring stopped at splice connectors on all 4. This new app will cost me several hundred dollars as I’m sure the company will balk because “of all the variables”. I’m on board for a Class Action lawsuit. So the once a year trip is canceled, a $300+ Bluetooth brake controller is now worthless, and I get to have 4 brakes with magnets replaced. Thanks One Control Auto, you’ve apparently been created to drive in more service work!

  • Change it back.

Since the EchoSmart app changed to Lippert OneControl the signal to my Curt BlueTooth brake controller drops signal constantly.
I had my brakes setup perfectly and all was working great then the I was forced to use the Lippert app.
I’m sorry Lippert but your app sucks and now I’m spending $1200 to have an electric brake controller installed in my truck. Thanks so much.
I will not be recommending the Curt device or the Lippert app to anyone.

  • They don’t have zero stars

As with the other comments .. Curt made a serious mistake and changed a good working product (Echo Bluetooth) and could not / do not revert their poorly updated app to the old app that worked last year. My brakes locked up on lowest setting, and I simply stopped using it .. just to bring it in for service in November 23. Then when I tried/hoped it would work in April .. it didn’t, and I lost *two* camping trips trying to get it work … then gave up as my family vacations and time was worth more than a new brake controller. I just *upgraded* to an Autowbrake that works waay better than the even the original Curt Echo and I didn’t have to rewire my car. I will never buy any electronics from Curt again.

  • Curt ECHO Wireless Break Control

This wireless brake control was very frustrating to install and set up but, once set up, it seemed to work fine for the first two trips however I found the break gain hard to dial in with poor instructions. After that it failed to work at all. The app locked up and left me with no break control while on my trip. I don’t trust it at all. This was a complete waste of money. I will get a hard wired break control, made by another company, before I tow a trailer again.
