Incredible! (the AI is a game changer!)
First, let me preface this by saying I’ve tried every finance app. (Copilot, Mint, Monarch, YBP, etc.), and although each of these does a handful of things well, none check all the boxes. Origin is finally a finance app that checks ALL the boxes and gives you an easy-to-use interface, a simplistic view of your financial situation, and innovative tools to help analyze trends and make informed decisions. Using the AI chatbot and how it can quickly give you detailed analysis of financial trends and offer helpful suggestions is genuinely game-changing. It has allowed me to make adjustments rapidly and notice things that slipped under my radar in the past. I can’t wait to see what else Origin has in store for the future of this app, but I can imagine it will be fantastic!Show lessafinn22

This app has potential in the long-term but it’s clearly too early stage that it’s very buggy and therefore does not fulfill its purpose. It constantly is disconnecting my accounts or just not showing transactions. It will also frequently recategorize expenses after I’ve already changed the category. It also flags a lot of expenses as transfers between accounts and therefore not reflected in budget when in fact they are outgoing expenses. So as it stands, it requires a lot of manual manipulation in order to get close to being accurate.Show lessaa1637534

I have access to Origin through my employer and last week I emailed support with three questions to learn more about the offering and the differences between the direct to consumer offering.
Within 2 hours they followed up with a response. I exchanged over 15 messages with support over the course of a day and a half and received excellent service. They provided thorough responses and shared help articles as needed.
What really stood out is their responsiveness, which I appreciated because some times it can take days to hear back from customer service.

I’ve really enjoyed using this app and the UI has been pretty good to navigate. If these get added to the app, it’d be an automatic 5 star from me!
1. Widgets - when I set up a budget, I’d love to be able to set a Home Screen widget to see how I’m tracking against that budget as well as recent transactions.
2. Additional connectors - Plaid has been awesome but it doesn’t connect to everything. It would be great to be able to use alternative connection methods. For example, I can’t connect my student loans in Nelnet via Plaid.
3. Bills section - right now, you can see your income and expenses. It’d be great to be able to filter out bills into their own category to track outside of day-to-day spending on the home tab in a quick view. Unless a bill like a credit card payment is set as an expense, it’s auto-hidden and the name of the transaction becomes renamed as a generic transfer.
4. Easier access to all transactions - this may be on me not navigating as well as I should but it takes a few taps just to get to a view all of my transactions. This ease-of-life update would be great to have a quicker access.
5. The AI feature is neat but it cannot read my actual account values so it’s just a generic chat AI with no personalized insight. For example, it would be incredible to be able to get help generating a financial plan with specific numbers to better budget based on spending history.Show lessWaspartica81

I love how well integrated it is with all of my accounts and all the tools it offers in-app with such a sleek design. It’s also really good about identifying transfers as transfers rather than an expense, even if it’s to an account outside of Origin / Plaid. The only gripes I have about it are that the budgeting rounds to the nearest dollar (doesn’t track cents), which makes the percentages never line up (they rarely are perfectly shown as 100%). My other big gripe is also that the budget is universal across every month, so previous months appear “over budget” or “under budget” if you changed your allocation for different categories each month, which is every month for me. Thus, some of the historical budget features fall flat. That being said, EVERYTHING else is perfect, and I know I’m being picky. I just see these features in other apps, and for such a premium experience for an app, I don’t feel like it’s too far off to expect these features from Origin.Show lessCharlie_CIII

Origin came recommended through my company perks program. I typically access Origin through the iOS app. From the start, all of my financial institutions were available for me to connect. I like that Origin provides a holistic approach to managing my finances, equity through my employer, and all my assets. The app is easy to use and has a great user experience.
There are three “hidden features” that you have to explore. Built into Origin are options to manage my taxes, schedule sessions with a financial planner, and prepare estate planning documents. Having these at your fingertips is a helpful reminder that I need to take advantage of them.
I highly recommend Origin for anyone looking for anyone (especially if you have online bank accounts you can link).Show lesssfboy83

I’ve been experimenting with financial apps all throughout my millennial adulthood. Mint, YNAB, and most devoutly… my own custom made Google spreadsheet. I still use my own Google spreadsheet but I feel like I can drop some of the details in it bc Origin does it for me. Mostly the holistic view of all of my assets. That’s great. I also love getting access to a fiduciary who talks to my husband and I. I used their Trust & Will tool but have yet to get it notarized.
I use Origin as a work perk and if I get laid off (please god don’t let that happen) I’ll definitely pay for this app myself it’s that worth it. At least right now.

I’ve used Mint and Personal Capital in the past, but was always left frustrated with the design and capabilities. As someone in tech who is heavily comped in pre-IPO stock, the equity feature is great and allows me to see the full picture of my finances without logging into my employee stock admin account. I also am impressed by the account sharing features, which allows my spouse to have her own log in credentials, but with full access to all our shared accounts. I’ve only scratched the surface with the budgeting functionality, but so far it’s been good. I’m sure additional features and usability will come, and my only complaints so far are small (more emojis and ability to add notes to transactions would be great). There are other features like estate planning and investing that also provide real value, and my one experience with customer support (via chat with a live human) was exceptional. Any doubt I had about Origin being worth the subscription price is long gone, and I’m confident I’ll be a religious user for a long time to come. Well done!Show lessBax4191

I downloaded the app because I loved the idea behind it. I created an account and signed up for the free trial. The next day, I was unable to log in to the app. I tried resetting my password, I contacted support, and was told something about needing to contact my employer? My employer is not involved with this app AT ALL I downloaded it to my personal phone. I have emailed support multiple times to cancel the free trial or reset my password so I can actually use the app.
At this point I’m going to have to dispute the charges with my bank since I’m being charged for a fraudulent product that I have not been able to use. Avoid this scam at all costs.Show lessMeghs123

Love the one stop shopping that Origin offers! My fiance and I are both able to add our accounts, and origin shows us our net worth, spending, budgets, and investment performance.
