It could be a top app - if...
Move it to a one-time purchase or, an annual thing to continue receiving updates, but you keep what you have if you don't upgrade.
This is what these apps are, by virtue, they are not the type of app people want to pay a monthly/annual subscription for.
I honestly believe so many apps out there can be far more sucessful if they get this subscription thing out of their heads.
Human beings can only stand so many subscriptions in their lives, & these wee apps are never going to be important enough for it.
Keep it simple, keep it sane, one price for an app, sell more volume, get more customers, and ignore the crowd of greedy people subscriptions!

Finn, I’m sorry you encountered this problem. There was a rare bug where text would be saved under a file’s previous name, rather than the current. This would make it seem like the text was gone, but it was actually on disk under a different name that was not visible within the UI. Please email contact@plotten.net for assistance in recovering your work. Again, apologies that you had this trouble.
Review Title: Serious Data Loss Issue with Plotten
I spent eight hours writing my first book on Plotten, only to find that all my work had disappeared. The app's last backup at 1 am contained no data, and neither did any of the version histories. This is a serious flaw for a writing app, where data security should be paramount.
Despite the app's user-friendly design, the loss of my manuscript due to unreliable backup and versioning systems is unacceptable. I reached out to customer support but have yet to receive a solution or even an acknowledgment of the issue.
For those considering Plotten, be wary of the app's backup capabilities. Until the developers address this critical issue, I cannot recommend Plotten for any serious writing endeavor.

Chris, please check your junk folder as we’ve reached out a couple of times regarding these problems. I’d like to apologise—data loss should never happen. This is not a widespread issue, and we use standard iCloud syncing functionality, so we’ll need to look at your particular environment in order to suggest a solution. Please check your mail, thank you. At the same time, we will make our backups more aggressive to prevent any future reoccurrence.
Great and versatile
It Looks Good, but needs a Subscription..
I’d buy this. As a one off purchase. I’m not sure I see how many years it will last in the wake of all things AI, therefore instead of £18.00 per year for say, 3-4 years, maybe £15.00-£20.00 as a one off payment might earn the developer a lot more than the out of date, out of touch, out of reach - Subscription model everyone loves to hate because, well, it’s unrealistic to have 100 subscriptions per month that average £5.00, unless, of course you have so much money, you’d have an assistant here, shopping for your apps and then you wouldn’t even be reading this anyway.

Extremely frustrated and angry about this.
I'd been using the app for what appeared to be a free mode; but then the app suddenly blocked everything to "Read-Only" and it forces you to make a subscription to continue using.
When I went through and confirmed (might as well, I had so much work already started) so much of what I had before is gone, I am terrified of what would happen if I'd had months of work on here instead.
Uninstalling and removing. Avoid this app at all costs unless you'd like all your hard work to disappear in an instant.

I’m really sorry you experienced this, but please know that all your work is still there. We aggressively perform backups as you work, and you can explore all the backups by navigating to the project details screen and scrolling to “Versions”. Additionally, all work is stored directly in iCloud. Occasionally, if iCloud is updating a version from a different device, a document can be temporarily unavailable.
