The best way to learn Japanese

I like the concept of Anki, I have used it a few times, but this is a complete Anki replacement for me! Probably the best app for learning Japanese, the course is amazing, using it for immersion is even better! No need for Duolingo, no need for other apps, this alone can get you to reach fluency!

Outstanding

What an incredible resource for a language learner, I don’t see any reason why this app should have less than 4.9 stars

Exceptional

This app has continued to improve through the labors of the developers in many ways. From the courses to the immersion and comprehension tools, I have not regretted my purchase once. An amazing tool for language learning via immersion, grammar lessons, vocabulary, and the community on discord is a great help as well. Highly recommended. Be sure to check website and features for language availability.

A total gamechanger

I'm using the app daily for months and have learned almost a thousand words, although I'm sure you can be even faster. And after more than a decade of struggling with Japanese, I'm finally able to comprehend anime in Japanese.

So what is it capable of? It analyzes and captures Japanese subtitles on Netflix, Youtube, and Animelon using a Chrome plugin. It automatically records the audio of the sentence, attaches the screenshot, translates the target word, color codes the tones (if any), and creates additional example sentences if desired. And it does all that very quickly. Then you can study the cards on this app. It's very intuitive.

While on a flashcard, you can click any word for a word quick translation. I don't know if you can do that in Anki. Although it doesn't give as much control over the spaced repetition spacing as Anki, I'm finding that it's for the best. The control freak in me would have tried to establish a punishing schedule, whereas Migaku takes the grind out of it by not endlessly repeating words that I fail, as it prioritizes learning through exposure.

The AI features are actually impressive. It can generate example sentences for words and interpret translations for words missing from a dictionary, like proper names.

But the true power of this app is the ability to capture the kind of context I like to consume, and learn the way I want to learn. It's the one thing that keeps me on track and motivated, to the point where I can clearly see a dramatic difference in my comprehension and speaking.

The moment I've learned what this little app can do, I've paid for a lifetime subscription and never looked back. I've shown this app to all my friends, just to see their jaws drop. It's unbelievable how much it simplifies and streamlines language acquisition.

And the app is constantly improving. The software is stable and there are only minor bugs, which are quickly addressed on their Discord. The developers put out occasional videos on their language philosophy, and it's clear that they know what they're doing.

In other words, it's a complete game changer. It's the future of language learning, and I can't wait to see what more the developers have in store for users.

Best All-In-One Language Learning Tool

I have never written an app review before. I felt compelled to write this because of how much value this app and the entire Migaku ecosystem has provided to me in my Japanese learning journey.

I’ve been learning Japanese on and off for about 5-6 years. I started with LingoDeer, watching tons of YouTubers like MattVsJapan on the best learning methods, and of course using Anki decks to learn words. I’ve learned a lot of Japanese over the last few years before using Migaku, but Migaku has been the most straightforward, rewarding, and seamless tool to use in my journey.

Having a tool that lets me know exactly how many words I know, my comprehension level on whatever material I’m viewing/reading, gives me details on any word or sentence I come across, and that lets me easily create flash cards with automatic audio recording, screenshots, word/sentence definitions! I won’t even explain all the software and tools you’d have to install on your computer that lets you get even half of the features Migaku offers. So to have it all in one place WITH a mobile app is unprecedented with language-learning software as far as I’m aware.

I’m honestly surprised that there aren’t a ton more people using this software in their language learning journey.

Highly recommend. Best way to learn a language

Migaku is simply incredible. I don’t know what I’d do without it.

Great Cross-Platform App - Best Anki Alternative!

This is the best app best app on the market for immersing yourself in foreign language content. It’s cross-platform so I can use it from my web browser on my restrictive work computer, but also use it on my phone or tablet on the go. The creators are also rapidly developing the app with new features every week and they’re very responsive to user needs.

Worth every penny

By far my favorite app for sentence mining and immersion. I can’t wait to see it develop more. It’s only getting better.

Heat

The app works great but my phone gets unreasonably hot to just be looking at flash cards. When i play games it's fine but the second i open this app the temperatures take off.

Has the potential to be an absolute language-learning game changer

Great so far. Lone time user since the browser extension, and wow I was surprised to see the recent academy courses they’re released for Japanese and mandarin. High quality sound for each card and sentence, a visualization, Furigana, SRS… this is potentially a game changer in the language learning scene.

Looking forward to Spanish academy!
