Glitchy

On the whole it is pretty good but it has this annoying glitch when switching from typing mode

Apple “Remote” app (for iTunes) control on iPad

Now that iTunes functionality has moved to the new Music app in the Catalina MacOS, not surprisingly, those who have not moved forward have been left to suffer the slow decline of Remote functionality. Myself included. This is the nature of the software universe, so take a relaxing breath since it is fruitless to expect such old technology to function as intended so far beyond its useful life.

One can no longer add a Play Next song to the UpNext playlist without the currently playing song muting for half a second while some buffer refills (or whatever is the cause). If you wait until a new song begins playing, you can sometimes get around this flaw.

Can’t use remote through Apple TV

I used to be able to use remote to play music and control the volume on my old Apple airport. Since I got a new apply tv I can’t get it to work.

Has bug with latest iOS on iPhone X

Using to navigate Apple TV as a remote:

When you open another app, (or the phone turns off) then come back to the remote app - it can not be used.

It flashes between playlists and the remote control screen incessantly.

Very disappointing that an Apple App needs to be force restarted every time to use it.

Please don’t give up on this app

I have a Mac mini that we use as a media server that is hooked up to an audiophile system. You can tell the sound difference between Apple Music and actual cds we ripped and play on iTunes. That being said we prefer using iTunes and this remote is severely limiting. I haven’t seen any functionality added in years. Please don’t forget about this app! I know very few people use it, but there are some of us out there that are crying for a revamp!!
I also subscribe to Apple Music which only shows up if you’ve downloaded the songs to the iTunes folder.

Now working well with Catalina

Stopped working after the latest Mac upgrade to Catalina if only Apple had acknowledged this straight away it would have prevented many wasted hours fruitlessly trying to fix the problem. Finally Apple have sorted the glitch out and the app is working fine again. When working a brilliant app

Works just fine with Catalina now.

Yes, it was as annoying as hell that prior to the latest release, Remote didn’t work with Catalina. And yes, it should have worked all along but it didn’t, and I too was concerned that Apple wouldn’t address the problem. But now they have and it all works beautifully. Thanks Apple.

New Update Still Buggy And Complicated

After updating the remote and turning on home sharing again I was hoping the remote usage would be seamless like it used to be. It still isn’t, and the workarounds being suggested on the apple support pages are ridiculously complicated. Many of them stop working as soon as you unplug your device from the console (which kind‘ve defeats the purpose).
Keep trying Apple, you’re not there yet. What a shambles.

Quite successful upgrade

I’m running MacOS Catalina. Using remote, when In the music library (which plays music on the Mac fine) there are dead links to FILMS and TV which are useless and do nothing. This may be a bug, however I’m wondering if these links DO work for older MacOS systems still running iTunes?
When in the TV library all the links are live and work fine. This is a helpful upgrade to Remote, thanks Apple.

Edited, working fantastically

After this latest update and MacOS update, working swimmingly. I love that my whole house AirPlay Setup works as designed once again!

Old rating: Had I known about the iTunes remote breaking when this Catalina upgrade came about, it would have been a deal breaker. I’ve had this app for years and used it regularly to stream music to all my airplay speakers. Worked wonderfully.

I put Catalina on my mac, and it’s broken. Apple would be wise to fix, with all the issues with the iOS and macOS, which they absurdly and uncharacteristically botched, and the anger in the community over this among other “losses”, which outweigh the “enhancements”. Apple, you were better than this.
