Excellent

Excellent app. The best ear training app. Highly recommend!!!

Improvements desired please

First of all I would like to say that I love this app and use it 2 to 3 hours a day. There are a couple of things that are kind of annoying though. With the interval recognition Exercises, Including the unison interval is completely useless for ear training purposes and it screws up the whole interface, having to scroll up and down just to grab the octave or the unison. The other thing is, I have it set on the fastest setting, and it’s too slow but at the same time too fast to read if I make a mistake, it should go faster and then pause for a second, long enough to read what mistakes I make. The other thing that would be helpful is when I check stats it lists which intervals I got wrong but it doesn’t list what interval I confused it with. In other words, it would be helpful to know for example, that I am tending to confuse minor 6 down with major 6 down or with major 3rd up or whatever it may be. Thanks

Interval training

I think this is a good program and I use it daily. One critique is that the interval training doesn’t use a key signature; and if I had a wish list for an update it would be to include that.

It’s easy to identify intervals in C; the next level would be to add key signatures and then double flats etc.

Otherwise that portion is for beginners only.

Also, including inversions in the chord recognition and chord progressions would help in that area to make it more comprehensive. Great program overall though.

Good but needs work

When creating custom lessons, everything is turned on by default. So have to painfully select each item to deactivate which does not always work. A quick tap does not work to activate/deactivate nor does a long tap, it’s some magical interval in between. Basically it is the user interface needs work so we can just quickly tap to activate or deactivate. Also how about ability to limit key range? When the sound is higher in pitch it’s is difficult to make out the correct tone.

Interval Training

I’m finding this app very helpful leaning my intervals. I’ve used other simpleton apps and I was struggling but with this app I’m extremely pleased with my progress. Although, it could be just that I’ve spent more time on my piano since my first run at interval training.

I find the keyboard at the bottom with the starting note labeled and able to play it with triggering it as ‘your answer’ very helpful for the learning phase. It’s also great practice to count-off your intervals on the keyboard for transferring your answer to the visual interval on the keyboard.

I’m sure it’s me but this thing is addicting and I can’t wait for the next session and am racking up two or three short practice sessions a day because of the extreme convenience of using an iPad.

Dropbox Sync still does not work!

Have tried contacting support to no avail. Just have to hope that one day I can Sync my custom levels that I make and all the statistics that go with. I use Better Ear on three devices, iMac, iPad Pro and an iPhone.

Note recognition broken

Program runs but for some reason does not detect notes lower than the b string on my guitar. In its defense another program has the same issue but just one other. The rest work fine.

I submitted support tickets but got no response. For 10 bucks the app should work. Not free
