Reviews of Earpeggio

  • Ear training

I played music when I was young, but haven’t really been heavily involved as an adult. I started taking singing lessons, and I thought that refreshing some of my pitch training would be helpful. The goal based interval identification, with exactly what I was looking for. it adds new intervals and complexity, and a pace that doesn’t rush you to the point where you’re getting things wrong in a demoralizing way, but does push you. I’ve been using the program for about a week and my singing instructor has already noticed a difference.

I also sampled some of the other functionalities and found them to be similarly well paced. I haven’t used them enough to be able to truly comment.
  • Wonderful for choir classes!

⚠️Specifically for vocal ear training⚠️ I love this (I’m at the intermediate level for vocal ear training) and think it’s extremely useful for young singers who need help with sight reading, finding the starting pitch and staying in tune. I recommend that choir teachers (no matter what grade you teach) use this as an academic tool for vocal ear training.
  • Pretty good

The app is ok, but it’s not quite professional level. It’s a good app for high school kids working on AP Music Theory, and that’s about it. Maybe some basic guitar stuff too. It’s just not the most user friendly, there’s a little bit of a learning curve with all the settings for the practice modes. However, once you understand how the app works, it actually is pretty useful for harmonic interval training. The melodic and rhythmic dictations are a bit broken, as they’re either too simple or a more complicated one causes everything to get smushed on my screen. Overall, I’d give it a 7/10.
