Reviews of Music Tutor (Sight

  • It’s working for me, but needs one important improvement

I’m really psyched that this is clearly helping me learn to read music. That said, when practicing with ledger lines, it’s super mentally confusing to map three octaves of notes from a staff to a single octave on a keyboard. The game should allow a rotation of the phone (into landscape mode) to show more octaves on the keyboard. Then a C that’s an octave below another C would map to the lower note on the keyboard, not the same key, for example.
  • Great!

After trying countless apps and almost giving up, this is a great app to learn music notes and practice. The only thing I would recommend is giving me the option to see correct answer. Right now, when I click on the wrong answer, right answer is only displayed for a second and sometimes I don’t get the chance to see it.
Also a badge system might be a nice gamification add. The leaderboard doesn’t realy motivate but maybe a badge system or even streaks could help.

    Thanks, great app!
  • Needs a longer pause with errors

I did not realize that you could hold your choice of note to get longer feedback on whether your choice was correct. I was just tapping the piano keys, and was annoyed that the feedback did not last long enough to see. When you are trying to go fast, however, you sometimes release a key too quickly to perceive the feedback. Could there perhaps be an option, at least during the practice phase, to sustain the ‘red’ feedback when you make a mistake? If you don’t get time to see both what key you chose, and which you should have chosen, the learning is slower, I think.
