I love this app… but…

I love this app, I can easily track my calories and it has helped me a lot to reach my goal. I like the feature that you can scan a food code bar and it will automatically give you the benefits things that the food gives you(protein, fats, carbs). However, I’ve seen something and I got offended. As an Arab, if you want to eat the chicken, you CAN STRICTLY NOT EAT IT WITH THA HUMMUS. YOU PUT THAT CHICKEN WITH THE GARLIC SAUCE AND YOU PUT THA HUMMUS AWAY(or keep it for tha beef) But overall it’s a pretty good app👍🏽

The ads killed it

This is my first review on AppStore —I've been a loyal Lifesum user for years, and it has significantly helped me achieve my weight loss goals. I even subscribed to the app while on my journey. Even after reaching my goal, I continued to use Lifesum to track my daily intake. However, the recent update has drastically diminished the experience due to the introduction of intrusive ads that disrupt the core purpose of the app: tracking.

While I understand the need for ad revenue to keep the app free, it feels like there's little value being offered to free users in return. Here's a suggestion to improve this experience while still generating revenue:

Consider adding a dedicated "Ad" tab where users can choose to watch five ads in exchange for five credits. Once they accumulate 20 credits, they can redeem them for one week of premium subscription. This way, users have the option to earn their subscription through engagement, and you still generate revenue from ads without compromising the user experience.

Thank you for your rating. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed in our app! I have forwarded your feedback to the team in charge for future consideration.

Very Good App

I’ve been using this app for about a year and so far far I’ve been able to build healthier eating habits and lose 55lbs.

The only issue I have, is that there are quite a few barcodes connected to the wrong product. For instance, my favourite pre-made salad always scans as corn on the cob. Ive tried several times to connect the barcode to a different item, but it doesn’t work. This problem isn’t the end of the world, but it is mildly frustrating.

I’ve tried both the free version and the premium version, but I find that premium is only a slight improvement.

Ad infested app.

This app has severely declined in quality over the years. Greed prevailed over user experience and helping you stay healthy.

We are very sorry to hear that and we appreciate you taking the time to rate and review our app.

Love it!!

Tracking what you eat is incredibly hard. Tracking what you eat using Lifesum is ALMOST easy - it still takes dedication, which is not the app’s fault. I love that you can instantly scan any food barcode and the app knows exactly what’s inside - calories, carbs, protein and fat - and it adds them to your day meters, so you always roughly know how much more or less you need to be eating for the rest of the day. It’s simple, pretty beautifully designed, and best of all it provides the basic functions you need to diet for free. I don’t mind the small ads they’ve added, since I get a good app for $0 and they need funding to provide their service to me. These guys have done a brilliant job, I wish I had the time and devotion to justify premium. Thanks devs! :)

Major Apple health syncing issues

I like the app the UI is good and it’s cheaper then MyFitnessPal but food I logged would only sync to Apple health half the time and would randomly disappear and I could not get the app to sync again until I re entered everything again.

We sincerely apologize for the troubles you've had with the app. We'd be happy to take a look into this for you, please contact us at: https://lifesum.com/deep/settings?page=support. Thank you!

May be ok with subscription, but negligible function as free.

The heading says it all. You can’t even adjust your targets without paying.

Thanks, but no thanks, I will do what I need to with a spreadsheet.

Response from developer

The app as you download it is free, with basic features as food, water and exercise tracking. Part of the app consists of paid content. Behind the app is a big team of more than 70 employees - these costs have to be covered. Thank you for your understanding! Too pushy for subscription

App works, and I understand that the company needs to make money, but they are way too pushy with wanting you to subscribe. Recently increased the ads which is fine I guess, but makes trying to verify their database nutritional values against your own food labels a bit more tedious.

Creating a new food item is an awful experience - why do you have to create it based on a fixed per 100 g portion when entering nutritional values? Many nutritional labels in North America are "per suggestions portion size", so you need to do math if you want to create a new food item for something that provides their nutrition per 60 g serving, rather than 100 g. I believe this causes many of the wrong database entries on the app.

worsened over time

Used to love this app. But in recent years so many features have been removed and locked behind premium. i understand ADDING new premium features, but REMOVING them, just to force you to pay money to continue using the app they originally presented to you?

final straw in deleting was today when the app became riddled with ads. so many ads it’s barely functional since they block so much of my screen. not an effective way of persuading people to go premium, just an effective way of getting users to go elsewhere
