Aye tides

If you need to know about tides, then you need to buy this . Excellent.

Beware limited UK data

UI is ok but has no data for two commercial ferryports within 20 miles of me - Poole & Lymington - waste of money. Also limited current info.

It has the UK ports!

Used the excellent Mr. Tides, for free, for years. Delighted to buy this. Easy to use. Favourites and adjacent stations would be good features on Mr. Tides.

I HAVE bought it, and it works well!

For all the people that have reviewed this before even buying it, what the hell? What is the point in giving it a low review from what you feel about it from looking at the screen-shots? That gives no additional information to anyone thinking about buying... after all they can see the same screen shots that you have... reviewed!?! All you have done is make this app look bad, if someone was to just click on the app, look at the score (2 1/2 stars) without reading the comments, they would avoid buying because they have been misinformed. It is unfair what you have done! I just hope that it is noticed that everyone that has wrote a review that has also bought it has given it a good score! This app did just what I wanted, had all the ports that I require... so far! I am in the Navy so I find this very useful.

Overall good

Similar to Mr Tides / xTide / wxTide on a desktop - apparently this is based on Mr Tides. I agree with the previous reviewer, sometimes it can be hard to find locations due to the number of them. Although they are split roughly by continent (Europe, America, Australia etc), they are not subdivided further - really they could be further split by country so the choices are select continent then select country in continent then select location. However, the find by my location works fairly well as it matches with locations some distance away and so can be used to limit the list somewhat.

Indispensible for UK landscape photographers

One of the problems with the iPod Touch is that you can not set your current location and you need to be connected to a wifi network for many of the location based apps to work e.g. tides, sunrise/sunset! Not so with AyeTides. You can set your location from a worldwide list (many UK ones) and get both tides and sunrise/sunset for each location, even when you are out on location and there is no wifi! Beware of the the difference between BST and GMT if you are in the UK. Customer support from the developer was fast, and fun! And if you turn your iPod Touch on it's side you get a graphical display of the tides. If you want to check the UK or other locations available, download the FREE desktop version called Mr Tides and play with that, it will give you a good idea of most locations and a lot of the functionality. I was pretty reluctant to spend this much on an app as most have disappointed, but if you are serious about needing tide info on location where there is no wifi then this is a good buy. Landscape photographers can combine this with PhotoCalc for a decent set of location tools.

Very nice, does just what it says

Internet independent, so you have access to tides wherever you are. Very cool feature toggling between colour graph view in landscape, and table view in portrait, makes great use of iPhone capabilities.
