I love to cook and love this app

I’ve used this app for years. I don’t recall if there’s a default shipping list but I built mine from scratch. It’s great to be able to create my own categories and shop according to how I need to see my list. My only complaint is not about the app but the web version. It would be really nice to have a more sophisticated web version. But the app itself is fantastic (and I tried many before landing on Grocery Gadget). I pay the annual fee 9.99, I believe, to be ad-free.

Love this app

I’ve used this app for years now, and use it daily. I love it.

Useful!

Very useful app

No longer syncs to different devices

Again the app fails to sync to other devices. This has occurred off and on over time and again with the latest update the sync fails. It needs to be fixed again. It would be great if there was a manual sync option too which could be used when there is a problem. The inconsistency makes this an app not worth paying to remove the ads.

Changed it up and made it crap

I’m certain I used to be on the ad free pro version of this but something has changed in recent months and I can’t scroll more than a third of the way down the page before a video ad comes up, several times in the space of two minutes. Utterly unusable now. Avoid.

Ad deception

I have used this app for several years and have loved it. Paid for the Pro version so I wouldn’t get ads then they changed and went to subscription, didn’t honor the paid version and now I get ads, even though I had already paid for no ads.

Now things keep popping up on my list that I know I didn’t add and I finally figured out today that there are “ads” on the search list that automatically add items to my list. This is very frustrating since my husband and I share our list and I don’t know if he added something or if the app added something. I hate calling him during a shopping trip to see which it is.

Developers - I don’t need or want you to add things to my list. This is just greedy. If things must pop up at the top of the search list at least don’t automatically add them to my list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deceitful Business Practice

Read the reviews, the developer keeps trying to spin the facts. In the beginning there was the “lite” version and the “pro” version. Lite was free but included adds, Pro was a one time payment to remove the adds. I purchased the pro version. Shortly after this they decided to put adds into the Pro version, and charge a periodic subscription.

Don’t trust this developer, they’ve proven over and over by their responses to customers that have paid them already, that they don’t care about you, only your future money.

What they could have done, is kept the lite and pro versions of Grocery Gadget, left the status quo. I’d they needed cash, they could have started a new business model with a new app and focus development under a subscription model. This would have given long-time loyal customer the CHOICE to upgrade if the features and service was attractive. Instead, they stole our trust and put adds into a program that was paid to be add free.

Apple, take note, you should not allow developers to behave this way. Or do you welcome this behavior because it lines your pockets with recurring revenue? Do the right thing, force this developer to remove the adds from the “Pro” version.

Works perfectly for my needs

I’ve been using grocery gadget for a long time and a couple of times development stopped and I was concerned it would stop being supported. I looked around and did not find another app that has the features that I need.

I paid for the pro version and now am paying for a subscription with no complaints. I would rather pay again than have this app that I rely heavily on disappear.

I live in a rural area and make a large shopping trip monthly. When I shop, I am shopping for my household and 2-3 others. I shop at Costco and 2-3 other stores as needed. Grocery gadget has the features I need to do this type of shopping easily and with a minimum of effort. Thank you for continuing development.

Lots Of Progress!

I love the new features, especially linking lists with stores and automatic list selection based on your location.

And, overall, everything looks so much cleaner!

All I want is

1. Store Notifications

I can’t tell you how many times I drove or walked by a store, only to get home and realize I need coffee creamer. Give me a sound and maybe a notification that say, “You need 2 items from Ralph’s”

2. Dark Mode

Great, you turn off Screen Locking! I love that. But, Dark Mode isn’t just cosmetic! Sure, people don’t get as irritated when you use the app in a dark or dim room, but it also really helps extend the life of a charge and you can’t be seen from outer space when you edit your shopping list walking home at night.

3. Use my choice of accent colors instead of yours, and the shift from Like to Love begins!

Been using for years and love it

App works good to keep me organized when shopping. I get distracted easily and forget why I go to the store most of the time.

I would like to see this work better with automation with iOS. I use paprika for recipes and would like to simplify my life. Even if I import my list. That way I can get it done quicker.

Keep up the good work and improving!
