Family sharing

The best part is have this on other family members’ device. Either before or at the the store you can get updated items for your shopping. But of course all the children’s requests are subject to pre approval. The ability to divide you location of items in your house makes list building easier.

Loyalty rewarded, Great data-based app

Years ago when Palm sent down I (like hundreds of others) were desperate to find a replacement app for “Handy Shopper”, which was a very well-done shopper data base allowing cross- checking prices and lots of customization. This Grocery Gadget does it all and in a handier undated way. I’ve had it for years and was just given a coupon to get a year free, which was nice as I was really stalled out on the new yearly charge. I can’t stand ads, but think a smaller yearly fee would be easier to handle😕

Great app and support

My husband and I’ve been using this app for several years now. We add needed items throughout the week and when one of us heads to the store our shopping list is already done. The auto syncing makes shopping together quicker because we can see what the other has added to the cart and what is still remaining. I recently had one minor problem with a delete button that was quickly resolved when I emailed support. Impressive!

Organizes to my stores and very easy to use

This app can easily be modified for my products, my usage. You can get as complicated as you would like with the product information, or keep it really simple. And, it knows which stores I go to, and when I click on the shop button, it organizes to that particular store in the order of that store.

They fixed it!

After using & loving Grocery Gadget for years, a recent SW “update” probably did what they expected, but also caused a few unexpected problems, i.e. app didn’t retain category settings and crashed on iPad use ...

Although sadly “bugs” are often a common side affect when many different apps are updated, what is uncommon is their Customer Support’s prompt email response to my email complaint & their Engineering’s software “fixes”!

The app once again works the way I’ve grown to love and rely on. Now ain’t that nice!

Completely Untrustworthy, Bait-and-Switch Cheats

EDIT: The developer did not read my complaint. I paid for lifetime ad-free access and then the developer switched to subscription model. They rewarded those of us who helped them get started by switching the deal later and giving us ads anyway.

Now they’re still giving ads to those naive enough to give them MORE money (I am not one of those people. I did not and will never subscribe after their unapologetic shenanigans).

Oh, and they raised the prices, too.

For everyone complaining about paying a monthly fee for this app and STILL getting ads, you should’ve taken a look at previous reviews and what these crooks did to their original paying customers who paid them money to get them going in the first place.

Longtime users such as myself paid for lifetime use, ad-free, and then later on, they put ads into the app unless you subscribe to a monthly fee. Yes, it’s only $1/month, but that’s not the point.

The point is these jokers CANNOT be trusted. So if you neglected to pay attention to what these guys did to their original customers, it’s your own fault you’re getting ripped off now. If they did it before, they’ll do it again.

I can’t believe Apple puts up with this from a developer. It’s nuts. We pay for one thing and get something else. I don’t even use the app anymore.

Response from developer

Dear fwoom, Existing app development and support effort is paid from ads or subscription which removes ads. You always can get the refund for your original purchase: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084 Thank you.

Subscription price hiked - poor support

Sub subscription across family account not working. Tried contacting support they’re response after 27 days was - try uninstalling and reinstall it - not holding my breath for a fix.
Shame - we did enjoy using, the sync made it great for putting needed things in the list and being able to see if someone else had already bought them

Not very intuitive

The linking between lists, shops and the current shopping list is not at all intuitive. E.g. I now find I can buy all my groceries in the hardware store because I missed something when adding the store maybe?
Also not happy about the ad subscription, a rip-off.

However, it does the job and I haven't found anything better.

Still cannot see why I am not allowed to shop from all lists when going round the aisles. I don’t care which list it’s on, if I’m in the shop, I want to see anything that I have selected.

Still trying to force me on wrong shop it thinks I’m in. Disabled location services!

VERY DISAPPOINTED

Unable to merge my app and group data without getting EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. I had deleted one time a few of years back when I first downloaded the app. AND the app wont let me delete sections at a time ( I have no need for baby food, but I have to “select” every. single. Item. to delete individually...then (as of last night) it wouldn’t allow me to delete)

I had to reload the app when I got a new iPad...and the perfect list on my iPhone? It went to the original “helpful”(insert rolling eyes) Master list. Regardless of what I wanted it to do

(I deleted the app, started over, told it to use group data, same thing happened)

It dropped a key feature

I’ve been using this app for around 5-6 years. I’ve been very happy with it generally, but one of these recent updates has dropped the search function from the lists.

You can no longer search through your existing list to find things you have previously had in the list so you can by them again without manually scrolling through every single thing you have ever put on your list.

If they were to bring back the feature that lets me type “milk” and it brings up all the milks I’ve ever put on the list, and can then add 1 or 2 or however many items I need to by, I would once again be a very happy user of the app.

Response from developer

Dear Trislave3, The search is still available in any of your shopping lists (if the list has 5 or more items), and in the list of favorite products. If you have more details to report please send an email to support@grocerygadgets.zendesk.com or directly from the app Settings -> Send Feedback. Our apologies for temporary inconvenience.
