  • Pretty Good

It is very functional, But i have lost 2 sets of recipes when i had to update, the program is lacking a backup feature. This is a shame, since i got the product for the shop by recipe feature. This works really well. Overall the program is very good, i like the initial food lists, and adding items is easy. Another feature you should consider is allowing quantities in the recipes them selves, not just be a bulk item. I wanted to use the recipe feature to keep recipes so i don't have to find the amounts, it is very tedious to write in the amounts in the instruction section. Other then the backup and refining the recipe input it is a great product, i use it daily now - every time i shop!

  • Great App!

I love how I can add the recipe into the app and with a single tap add all items to my shopping list. A quick check of current home inventory and I can cross items off with a tap. My only complaint is that if you have different units of measure (3 cups of milk in one recipe, 2 tbsp. in another), it won't combine them, and in one instance it reset all of my measurements in one recipe!! Not fun seeing as how I can't find the book that I got that recipe from! Fix this, and 5 stars for sure!!

  • GroceryZen is great

I really am enjoying this application - so much so that I have made it one of my four favorites on the bottom of the iPhone screen. It replaces all my old paper grocery lists that would get lost in the bottom of my purse and keeps me on track when shopping.
  • Excellent Shopping App

I have used this app for over a year and really like it. True - you have to add a few things to your list up front but once your usual staples are in there it goes pretty easy week by week. I can usually make my weekly grocery list for a family of 4 in about 5 mins or less and once I get to the store I rarely have to back-track. That's saying a lot considering I am a guy. My wish list: 1- categorized recipes, 2-synchronization to a backup.

  • This one is first class

After tiring of the lack of index/search in my original shopping assistant I researched all the ones I could find in the store and trialled four of them. This has proven the best. It is fast to use, whether adding to the shopping list, buying items or adding new items. A purchased item falls to the bottom of the list, clarifying what it is you have still to buy, and management of quantities is very easy, allowing weights or volumes as well as counts. I like the fact there were not too many items in its pre-loaded list. It made it quicker to get rid of the ones I don't buy or where we use different terms in this country. Changing the "aisles" and adapting them to different purposes was also straightforward. When you have finished buying, the simple Check Out button removes your purchased list from display. I was not looking for the "Recipes" function but it might prove handy and, most importantly, it does not intrude at all on the main functions. I am pleased that it is not burdened with pricing, budgets, calculators and other time-wasting flummery, but that just expresses what I want and may not be right for you. For speed, flexibility and effectiveness, this one is first class, and highly recommended.

  • Great App

Every so often I browse the app store to make sure that there isn't a new app that does a better job than the one I have. None of the other grocery apps let you add recipe ingredients with the same ease as this one does. I can customize my lists by using all caps or adding asterisks to names of items for different categories (all caps means buy organic etc...). Suggestions for updates would be to allow recipes to be added from other online sites, for example if I see a recipe I like on Food Network, I could click to add it to my GZ list. It would also be helpful to be able to upload or import from another source. Any thoughts of creating a website and allowing data entry there and syncing with iPhone? I am wondering how hard would it be to add the ability to add prices and track list/recipe total costs? Overall, great app. Easily customizable, easy to use and really helpful. Makes a dreaded task almost fun. Erin

  • Really useful!

I've entered more than 300 recipes and have also made a "recipe" that includes all of our regularly purchased items (e.g., garbage bags, eggs, milk, laundry detergent, etc.). Easy to use, easy to share (sending grocery list or recipe to someone else), and exactly what I was hoping for from the description. I would love to also have an "appendix" type tab where I could click on broccoli, bring up the list of recipes that use broccoli, then click directly to a recipe to add all of the ingredients. You can almost do this now if you edit the "items" list, each item will show you which recipes it's in - just a little cumbersome now. All in all, glad I spent the money!

  • One of the best looking and most practical apps

I love this app. It all looks brilliant and the attention to detail is great, such as adding a photo to your recipe. It's really user friendly too with a simple layout and one-touch to add or tick off list items.

When adding items to a shopping list you can increase the number you need to buy by tapping it. I think the complaint below comes from using the default ingredients list but the idea is you edit it or create your own. For example I added 'Milk 1 litre' to my list instead of the default 'milk'. Now I just tap the quantity when adding it to decide how much I want to buy. Simple really.

The one thing I would add would be an option to put the price of an item in. It could add them up when necessary too. That way you could get a close estimate on the shopping bill or the total price of a recipe!

Thanks for this app. Worth every penny.

  • Seriously speeds up shopping

This app is surprisingly versatile, given some imagination. A "recipe" is just a group of items (with associated quantities). So I have a "recipe" for "Trader Joe's Run". It's just all the stuff I usually buy there. By selecting that one recipe, I've got my shopping list! And if I don't need a particular thing, I just check it off as if I bought it! Super simple. I shopped with my iPod Touch in one hand, and the basket in the other. I BLEW through the store. It's a great one-handed app. It's GREAT that this app has lots of grocery items already built into it. You don't have to enter them all. When you are shopping, the items are sorted in Aisle order. Very handy. Re-ordering the Aisles is a bit tricky. You go to Items Edit (choose an item), then Aisle, then Edit. You can then order the Aisles any way you want! My wish: that I could have a different aisle-order for each store, and be able to tell the app what store I'm in! Developers: please don't overcomplicate this app. Right now it's in a sweet-spot. Just add my one feature, and it'll be perfect! :-) Great app!

  • Another list app with little use

Until this app gets more functionality than notes or can import recipes (it comes with 3) save your money. I'd be more forgiving if this had an awesome feature such as being able to store what items you have at home and compare that to a recipe and tell you what to shop for, but it doesn't. It takes the entire list for a recipe. It also has an
the odd feature that tells you when you need a vacation. If you have to use the item location to remember that milk is in dairy it's personal day time.
