  • HP 41

This is my favorite calculator. Good news that it lives on. Programs and operates like the real thing (almost). The real thing has better "buttons.". Too bad there is not a card reader or wand app. Lots of programs, but not a fast way to enter them.
  • Great but...

Love the idea and the interface. Big problem in that it locks up regularly on my ipad and the only way i have found to clear it is to power off or hard reset my tablet. Cant get it to respond any other way.
  • Finally an HP app awesome

My HP 41 CV battery just died after 25 years. I was going to try to get the battery replaced but a friend told me about this app. I'm so excited to have RPN again and on my phone to take everywhere I go. Awesome.
  • Awesome, but there's one little thing...

With the Vintage skin selected, the overlays don't align with the keys. But really, this emulation of an HP-41CX is beyond first-rate. It's truly astonishing. And the great thing about it – for someone who does have an actual, functional 41CX and a bunch of accessories – is that you can evaluate (and use!) a lot of hard-to-find program modules right here in this emulator. Thank you for doing such a great job with this app.

  • Lacking style and versatility

The GUI is very coarse on retina display. It is still iPhone scale and does not use the iPad's full display to give quick access to all of the great functions. Most of the skins (after an extra 2.99 purchase) are very low-res and look like scanned and heavily compressed jpegs with compression artifacts. The only hi-res skin is poorly designed where buttons are indistinguishable from one another making it difficult to find the right one. Inverse pinching (to enlarge the the calculator image) resulted in "memory ..." flashing on LCD that would render any further calculations impossible and required a hard reset to fix.

  • Just Like My 41!

I'm fortunate to still have two working 41s but having this app means that I can have all their functionality with me all the time.

The only thing that keeps this from getting five stars is the fact that it is not made clear from the outset that getting a functioning printer display is an extra purchase. The screenshots show what appears to be a functioning stack display when in reality, it is only a help screen.

Kind of a smarmy tactic. But I love this app, nonetheless.

  • Great Calculator

I still have a working HP41c but this allows me to take it everywhere. The buttons are a little small on my iPhone but is great on an iPad. Well worth the money if you grew up with it.
  • Confusing pricing

They should be more clear that the modules are not available with the i41CX and you have to get the i41CX+ for the modules to work. Their product description for the i41CX indicates that you have access to all the HP modules. So I bought the basic version with an update for overlay. It turned out that all modular functions are NONEXISTENT unless you purchase the + version. I want to return the product if I can.

  • Great app, confusing features structure

Amazing HP41 scientific calculator emulation (and much more), but the pricing structure of the app purchase and In-App purchases is confusing. Probably better off to just purchase the features upgrade version from the beginning.
  • Good replication

This is a nice app. I went to Ohio State U in the 80's when we had one engineering class where the teacher pretty much guaranteed an A if you bought an HP41 series calc. Many subsequent teachers in the eng college supported the use of RPN as well. I purchased the CX rather than the more popular CV model and it is amazing how used to the calculator I got even though I have had several other HP RPN calcs since. When I found this app it was like riding a bike. Even though there is no tactile feedback from the ipad ( one of the things i liked best about the HP) the sound feedback in the app does a good job of emulating it....its hard to describe. The app creator needs to do a better job of describing the selling point of the add-on packages.....which may make me purchase.
