HP41CX Review
This is a fantastic application! My old 41CX (25Years old) has been acting up after 25 years of faithful service......and then I find this app. It's a fantastic replacement for my old CX, as it has pretty much all the features of the old CX and even a few more. Brilliant!
I've owned a real one (used it up) and this is in many ways is better. For one, you can make it go faster than a real one!
I was surprised at how quickly I could still type and program on this. For programming a handheld device actually on the handheld device, the keystroke programming calculator model is far superior to regular programming languages, and there was never a better calculator than the HP 41. The ability to chain little related programs, or call them from each other gives you tremendous flexibility to gain a little mathematical insight on the go. I feel like my phone has 10 times the utility from just this one app. I have my old friend back! Yay!Show lessCITev
Outstanding app
As an engineer who still uses a HP41CX and it's peripherals in his daily work, and also as an experienced FOCAL (forty one calculator language) programmer, this iPad application is outstanding. If six stars were allowed, this app would get it. It's that good.
After seeing how well the calculator app worked, I did the in-app upgrade to get the printer and additional features. That's when the app went to six stars. If you believe, like me, that the HP41CX was the best engineering/scientific programmable calculator ever made, and that it was a tragedy that HP quit manufacturing that product, you will love this app. No more need to buy HP41 items on eBay to keep your years worth of custom HP41CX programs alive; just use your iPad running this perfect emulation of the HP41CX.Show lessdane1234

This app works very well. Programming is identical to the 41's with no apparent bugs - If you miss or want a 41 for daily use this is a good app to have.Skippy 123456

Best calculator app! I upgraded to the plus and enjoy the programming. I'm a pharmacist so it is great to develop programs for ideal body weight calcs as well as kinetics.PawnMower
Very nice, but...
It takes too long to start up. Nearly 4s on my iPhone 3GS. May not sound like a big deal, but I find it detracts considerably from the usability. Is there some way to make it immediately responsive to user input, while any remaining start-up processes run in the background?

Bravo... a truly excellent app!
I bought a 15C when it first came out for college many years ago. I still have it and I use it on a daily basis. I upgraded to the 41CV a few years later… I still have this one and still use it on a daily basis as well… the 15C is at work and the 41CV is at home. I love these calculators! Then I discovered this app and immediately bought the i41CX version (I don’t need the printing or expansion capabilities of the plus version). I also immediately started loading it up with many of the programs I have created on my 41CV. I must say that I am elated to have this calculator at my fingertips everywhere I go now (I don’t carry around my 15C or 41CV). If you appreciate RPN and a stack (and even if you don’t program it) this is the app for you. Upgraded to 41CX+
I bought this version and just upgraded to the plus version. You can do this by tapping the center of the display and hitting the upgrade icon. This makes it a fully functional 41CX just like my still functional one with all the moduals and skins.
I'd like to thank ALsoftware for their quick response to my inquiry into the upgrade. This is a fantastic application without the full functionality of the plus version, but the full version is out of this world. Now I have the same modules my real 41CX has and the ones I couldn't afford 20 years ago. All for an extra dollar and the difference if I'd purchased the plus version from the start.

Great Calc
I own and use a CX and CV and this is almost perfect. I'd like a light face like the HP overlay that came with my calcs, but otherwise, it's super. I don't need printing, so this saves $8. Don't hesitate - it's worth the money.Mike from Sac
Not bad but not great yet.
Wonderful rendition of the 41CV. For the most part it works just like the original. There are still a few bugs in the programming mode (for example, PSE doesn't seem to work, or at least doesn't display the x reg during the pause like it should). Also there should be an easy way to view the contents of all registers and to enter/edit programs in this mode.Show lessPhanork
