  • Works Great

Using 2011 iMac and iPhone 4S this app works fine.
Have your phone setup to Sync to iTunes over WiFi and all you need to do is open the app on the phone, then print from the computer.
A previous reviewer complained that having to open the app on the phone is tedious, but other than native Mac apps such as iCal and Address Book, I'm not aware of any 3rd party apps which can sync the same way, so not sure this shortcoming can be blamed on the developer of this app.

I find this one to be a useful and tidy way saving coupons and loyalty program rewards I get in the mail.

  • Works great!

I can "print" directly from my netbook to my iPad and don't have to worry about paper copies. Documents are saved on the iPad in an Inbox within the ACTprinter app as pdf files. I used to have to email the documents to myself so that I could access them on the iPad, but this is easier and they are all in one place. Very easy to use once I figured out that I had to download the app to my iPad and the program from the ACTprinter website to my netbook. Took me about 5 minutes to setup. Not a big deal to have the iPad open when "printing" from the computer; in fact, if it is open, I can see that the document has transferred.

  • Very Nice

If it's bad, I write to advise against it. Likewise, if it's good, I want to let others know. After reading all the comments on this app, I was a little in doubt, but went ahead and purchased anyway. I am very glad I did, because it works really well. It does everything I need it for. I can instantly move all types of files to my iPhone and iPad, including the Acrobat files others say won't work. I simply open them in Preview, and then transfer them. I have instantly moved files with 40 and 50 pages with no problem. I can then open them with any of the other apps on my iPad or iPhone, to use however I want. Very good app, and I do recommend it.

  • Background printing would be perfect

This app works great and exactly as described.

My only problem with it is that it needs to be actively running (front most app) in the ipad/iphone and the screen unlocked until you have verified that the print job made it through from your computer.

I realize there are limitations about this due to iOS. I would hope the developer and users pressure apple to make changes that would allow this behavior. In the meantime, using an intermediate server in the internet would fix this, at least for files of reasonable size. For jobs that are too big or when the server cannot be reached, a simple error message on the computer telling the user the print job failed and they need to launch ACTPrinter in the device and try again would work fine.

  • This is COOL!

I saw people complaining about it not working on their PC but it works beautifully on my Mac. No hassles. I was surprised there was no complicated configuration. I was expecting as much. I simply downloaded the application for my Mac and simply opened it and it installed itself. Then I installed the app on my ipad. I tested with a text document by opening it, clicking ctrl-p and choosing "print to iphone" under the "pdf" menu and it instantly shot it right to my ipad. This will be VERY useful.

I know how things sometimes don't seem to work right. I've come across plenty of idiotically written software on both Macs and PCs. I tell this is NOT one of them. Be patient with this one and give it a chance. It really does work once you figure out how to get it properly installed and running on your machine.

NOTE: You have to have your iphone/ipod on and the application open to send a document. This is critical. This is the only way the program in your Mac or PC can "see" your device. You select it and click OK. Keep in mind your iphone or ipad also needs to be configured to connect to your WIFI network.

  • Works sort of.

I am attempting to discover dependable methodologies for printing and/or transferring documents to the iPad within a business environment. So I purchased this app as a way to convert DOC files to PDF and then transfer them from my Windows desktop to my ipad2 without having to use a sync program (Doc2GO) or email. I tried it a couple of times and everything seemed to work fine. Today, I attempted to print several files via ACTPrint, one after the other, with the result that the client would report success; but, after the first printing, the document failed to arrive at the iPad. In its current form, I suspect this app will require too much interaction between user and "app support" in order to perform in a business environment. I suggest that a user would be better served to employ email rather than ACTPrint at this point in the app's development.

  • Did the developer test this app

I use the Windows version server on Vista OS. After fairly lengthy installation (at some points, I wasn't sure if the installation still working or not. The installation at one point actually get into the command line to perform some installation activities), I was excited to start enjoy the function that Apple has failed to understand the user's need to have document portability. Unfortunately, the excitement ends right away. The ACTPrinter WIN cannot recognize the iPAD (my IPAD never showed up on the drop down list for printing). I did use the Airvideo app to make sure the WiFi communication between IPAD and PC is working.
I've download and pay for many apps for iPAD and I am getting very disappointed on the quality of the product. I think the quality of the iPAD apps is getting much worse than Windows.

  • Great App!!!

Awesome idea and a sweet way to save paper and take printed doc's with you!!! One major bummer is no Windows support :( How hard could it be to use Bonjour for Windows to allow for the App to print from XP/Vista? One other major bummer is since Apps can't acces each others data for security purposes and ACTPrinter doesn't support transfering printed doc's to other iPhone/iPods there is no way except email to send a doc. But email doesn't give the recipient access to the doc in the same way as if they have an iPhone/iPod with ACTPrinter. WiFi data transfer to another ACTPrinter client would be awesome and heck with iPhone OS v4.0 on the way using Bluetooth GameKitUI from v3.0 would practicly automate the process ;)

  • Not nearly streamlined enough

This app is not worth paying for, compared to just printing to a PDF then emailing yourself the PDF. That works much better, considering your phone can be anywhere, in any state, connected to any network and you'll still receive the file.

Instead, to use ACTPrinter, you have to get your phone, open the app, "print" from your computer, be connected to the same network, select phone, etc... it requires MORE manual synchronization! The only reason I would want a "print to iPhone" app is to make things easier, not equally complicated or worse.

If they make this app work through the internet, with push notifications or some other system for asynchronous communication between the computer and the phone, it would be worth using. For now, I'm going to delete it and stick to mailing myself PDFs. In fact, if Houdah software just made their PDF printer email your phone for you, I'd be happy to pay for that and not even need the app!

  • Super Cool

I downloaded this to move an instructional manual from my mac to my iPad. It worked like a charm. The only glitch was when I wanted to delete a PDF from it. It automatically closed itself and I had to reopen it. The document was gone though! BTW...I didn't have any issue with printing the PDF like I was afraid I would have. I saw my iPad, printed it, then opened it on the iPad. I also found an option to open in other apps I have on my iPad such as iBook, documents to go, etc... Well worth a buck!
