  • Great practical use for an App - Needs more features since its not free

Kudos to an intuitive bright & effective way to minimize extra unnecessary steps in PDF'ing and emailing documents to yourself when its only a 1 click process. However, in the five minutes I've owned this app, things like the ability to create folders and save items in folders / subfolders seems to be key, yet isn't in your application.

You've certainly got the right idea - now bring it on home by adding features that bring users towards the same or similar goals (like organization, which is why I mention folders).

  • Just what I wanted!

Just as the picture shows, and couldn't be more intuitive! select print from any program, click on pdf and print to iphone. Couldn't be easier! I particularly like the small file size and that you can rename the file once it arrives (like prefacing with a number for title sort!). I also like that sort option includes time of transfer so that it is easy to find the last sent document.

  • Good app, has a way to go

Being able to print from my Mac to my iPod Touch with little effort is great. Once on the iPod, however, there's considerable frustration with the list of docs. Under the menu called "Order" I have tried many times to put the list of docs in an order which helps me. When I enter "Edit" I can move a doc title to another position. It then sits there for many seconds before settling into the new position. When I go out of "Edit" it looks as if the new order is in place, but when I leave the screen and return to it, everything has reverted to the original position.
Also, it would be great if the list could be switched to title only, with thumbnails an option but not the only format for the list.
Despite these frustrations the app is useful. Hopefully, updates will improve it.

  • At first I thought it was great...

I love the idea of being able to send anything from my computer to my iphone (without having to email it to myself), and at first I wasn't having any problems. However, after about the 3rd or 4th file that I sent, the app started to get laggy and respond slowly to my commands. Now that I have about 8 files in the app, it is SOOOOO slow that it basically freezes up every time that I open it, and I am unable to look at ANY of the files that are stored, plus I have to force quit to get out of it. It doesn't matter how easy it is to transfer the files to your iphone if you are unable to view them once they are there. If they can fix this lag issue, then I will give it 5 stars, but until then, this app is unusable for me. UPDATE: The latest update (version 1.5.2) did not fix this issue, so I still can't view any of my files without freezing up my iphone

  • Convenient...but with new and recent glitch

I recommend this app, if only to save paper and the hassle of printing out items that could just as easily be served with this app. Have used it a good deal in the few months since purchasing it, but in using it the other day I noticed a new glitch, so I hope this gets resolved as this is otherwise a great application. The new glitch?....when going to your documents and choosing one to open, the doc opens, but the drop down / bottom up command menus (Printout - Edit up top / Magnify - Write on bottom) disappear almost immediately and cannot be called back once the doc opens. This requires one to close the application, even to switch between docs. Hey Houdah folks.....Get this fixed and the app becomes a five star app.

  • Great App!

Very well done and quick and easy to use. I needed something like this a long time. Replaces my emailing myself all the docs I need mobile.

Some thoughts for improvement: I wish you could email/forward docs directly from the app and also wish that there could be a "filing system" ie: folders or something to organize the docs instead of just a list like in email- it would make finding what you need much easier. Maybe in a near future update?
I hope all the cut/copy/paste functionality of 3.0 will arrive soon as well....

  • It doesn't work

Haven't been able to print anything, even a very small text file, to the iPhone. The desktop application says it's printing, but the drop down device list, from which I presume I would select my iPhone, isn't "live". IOW, the desktop application doesn't see the phone. Both the computer and the phone ARE on the same wireless network. There is literally no support on the web site. $0.99 down the drain as far as I'm concerned.

Since writing the above, I've had email contact with developers. They haven't solved the problem (ACTPrinter still doesn't work). However they WERE quite responsive with suggestions on what to do. So, I still give the app one star, but do give them credit for responinf as promptly as they did.

  • Love saving paper

Have used this for a month now and think the app. has much merit but have experienced a few crashes. Hope that the new 1.5 update takes care of that. Also experienced a problem at the Burbank airport with security. Still using paper boarding passes there and do not have the technology to read barcode form the iPod. Also have a little problem with "printing" emails from Entourage to the ACT printer. They download to the iPod but often have a hard time opening them. Despite these issues, still like the app and use it often.

  • Great app for the price

I use this primarily as a quick check when I need to review something. At this screen size, that has been my primary use for this - As a quick reference to a few valuable documents. It doesn't get a full five stars because it's a little slow to load. Not that much slower than a browser page, but still, it would ideally be a little snappier. And reading and saving email would be a nice addition. But it's done what it advertises to do very well, and it's an app I use daily. And just a quick warning/pointing out the obvious - you do need a wi-fi connection to make this work with your primary computer.

  • Great Addition to My Touch

What a great idea and it works perfect. I downloaded the companion Mac application from their web site and it turns putting PDFs on to the iThing into a one step process. Printing to it was already great enough to rate 5 stars, then reading their FAQ I discovered that you could drag and drop any PDF on the Mac app and it is moved to the iThing also. I was storing PDFs for reference using other Apps on my Touch but this makes it so simple. Must have App, I already told several friends about it. Jeb
