  • Would be perfect if only...

...the desktop app didn't close down after every document was printed. The way it currently works is you have to confirm your iPhone when the app opens in order to send a document to the device.

Pity the user who maybe wants to print TWO things in a row to their iPhone. They've got to wait for the app to open up again and unfortunately, it doesn't remember your iPhone, so they'll have to reconfirm it for each document, let alone for each time the app runs.

Build in a Favorites option or a "Remember This Device" capability and my review goes to 5 stars.

  • Fastastic way to "read on the go"

Great way to get docs from my Mac to my iPhone for quick reviews. I'll often do this right before I head to the train where I won't have any coverage (due to tunnels). The process is quick and painless - click print, hit the PDF button (which kicks off the software) and open the app on the iPhone. Took me < 10 seconds to get a doc from my screen onto my phone from the moment I clicked File-Print in Word. The one improvement it NEEDS is a way to go full-screen without the iPhone bar, title bar, and lower buttons (which I'd guess take away from 20% of the usable screen).

  • Need to protect documents from accidental deletion and others' eyes

It would be helpful to add a pop-up that asks, "Are you sure you want to delete this?" before a swipe deletes your document. I know some find pop ups like this irritating, but in this case it might save having your boarding pass deleted inadvertently. Also, a place that is password protected and encrypted would be wonderful. Otherwise, I like this. I have saved serial numbers of stuff I travel with, car maintenance log, available light photo info, almost anything that can be in a document can go into my iphone or ipod touch.

  • Works nice for me

It took me a couple minutes to install, and then it worked as it said. I can't transfer pdf's because the print dialog/save to pdf button doesn't allow saving pdf's to pdf. That isn't a problem with ACTPrinter.... that is just how the save to pdf function works. I have to save pdf as a .doc first then no problem. I do wish I could save pdf's directly but this is the best app. I have found without having to use a internet ftp server which I don't like the idea of. For the couple of bucks I spent I think it is the best app for my needs. I would only hope that in the future they would figure out how to handle pdf.'s directly..... maybe even with bookmarks in tact. That would be great.

  • Doesn't Work As Advertised

...for me, at least. This is what I get when I try to "print to iPhone" from my iMac...."Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save." I'm not trying to "save" anything, I'm trying to "print to iPhone" from the PDF option in the drop down list. To someone's credit, they did respond to a forum post on the site trying to help. The workaround was as follows... Adobe Acrobat - as well as some other PDF viewers - block the use of PDF services. I thought that was odd since Acrobat is ubiquitous in regards to pdf files. The work around is to drag the PDF file directly on the ACTPrinter Mac icon. Well, unfortunately that doesn't work for me either, though it did once. Trouble is, It's difficult to find where to download the desktop version so I can get a new icon after a fresh re-download on their site after I've deleted the first icon to try again since it wasn't working.

  • Great Application, how about adding email functionality?

This is a great application, I can see a great use for it and I love the fact that this doesn't need to go through a third party web server or need an account. The one piece that I would love to be added (which would bump this rating to 5 stars) would be to add some sort of email functionality. Say for instance I print a lot of documents for reference to my iphone, if I could email one after I sift through the useful ones, that would be amazing! Overall great app though! Good job!!!

  • Worth every penny!

This app allows to "print" to your iPhone from your Mac and stores the document in PDF format on your iPhone for later reading. A great way to take ebooks with you or store important documents you need to show others. You will have to Google their site and install another app on your Mac to get it to print, but other than that it is incredibly quick and easy to use.

Note: If you're having trouble pinching a document I've found that tapping the button on the upper right of the document helps.

Suggestion: Make a way to send the documents back to a computer. Or to be able to email them, etc. For example, if I showed a client a document and he wanted a copy of it right then, make a way to do that.

  • Good start and support response has been very fast

I want to start with props for the support of this product. I have sent 2 emails and both were responded very quickly. One is a bug where . or / in the file name will cause the "print" to not transfer to the iphone. The second is a request to change some of the buttons where it is difficult or impossible to determine if they are off or on. The bug is known and will get fixed in an update. For features, I'd like to see some page navigation. I'd like to have more zoom in, but there may be a limitation.

  • I'd use Evernote instead -unless I DON'T have internet connection

Well, maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges, but there's another great (and free!) iPhone app called Evernote, that lets me do the same thing (and many more). I find it more convenient because I don't have to run the app on my iPhone to print, and it gives me much better ways to search and organize my printouts. ACTPrinter is simpler and gives you less functionality, however there is one use case where it may be better: when you don't have internet connection. Another occasion when I'd use ACTPrinter instead of Evernote is when I have to print some data that I don't want to go through third party servers (my SSN, bank info, etc.). So, I guess I'd keep both apps: Evernote being my main and default choice, and ACTPrinter for occasional use.

  • great app. two requests please.

I really like this app and think it has a lot of potential, but I have two requests for the developer. 1. Please incorporate a full screen view (remove the top and bottom toolbars), and 2. when I print more than one .jpg at a time the pages print to my iphone in a group instead of individually. this is a problem because when I open the group of .jpg's on my iphone, it is too much information for the iphone to handle. The iPhone either lags while viewing all of the photos at once or crashes. Why don't I just use the built in photo viewer? Because I like to take screen grabs in .JPG file format on my MAC and would like to use this application to view them. Other than these two minor things that I know will be fixed, this app is a huge time saver, very convenient and a great idea.
