  • Bad bad bad for iPhone

I used card star for years. Then they said I had to have a free upgrade to use it anymore even though all my cards are stored on it. After trying to use it and not successfully being able to, I decide to do the free upgrade. I clicked on the box to enter my email address the box jumps off the screen up above where anything is visible. You cannot enter your email address and if I enter a saved email address then I cannot click to the next box to confirm the email address or click to the next box to enter a password or click to the next box to answer the confirmation of the password. Tried this for a half hour. Finally decided maybe there’s a glitch in the app so I removed the app reinstalled it now all my cards are gone and it still will not let me enter my information to be able to use it.

  • Old reliable

I have been using this app for many years, and it hasn’t failed me yet. Interface is a little clunky. But it takes every barcode and membership number I give it without complaint. Works fine for loyalty cards, library cards, memberships, etc.
  • Getting slower and glitchy

I’ve had this App for eight (8) years or so. The history is patchy. Originally it worked very well. Then the company stopped supporting it and things went downhill. The current owner promised regular updates but only has done a few.

For the past few months it’s been getting slower and slower to open. Since there’s no way to sort, it can take an inlet amount of time to find your card. It might not be a actually that long but it is when your in line and the cashier and the people behind you are waiting on you.

I’m now at the point where I am seriously considering changing to another App.

  • Can’t access the app

Just started using CardStar a couple months ago. Very convenient but now it wants me to “upgrade for free”. No option not to upgrade. Apparently I’ve used up all of my options to upgrade later. So I went ahead and clicked the upgrade button. Boxes come up on the screen for email address and password. As soon as I click in the first box the screen scrolls up until the boxes can no longer be seen. Won’t scroll down. So I can’t upgrade. I can’t access the cards I stored without upgrading. I went to the App Store and clicked the support link. CardStar web page won’t open. Hopefully the developer will respond to this review. Otherwise I’ll have to start over with another app. Running the latest iOS on a phone less than a year old.

  • Wouldn’t Let Me Register, So I Deleted It

I used this app a few years ago and liked it a lot. Now that. I am back to the iPhone, I downloaded it again and was excited to have it. Unfortunately, no matter how many ways I tried to register as required, I kept getting error messages saying my email was wrong, my password was wrong, etc. I don’t have time anymore for apps that take more than ten minutes to set up. Sorry, Card Star. Handy app, and I am giving you 5 stars so I don’t ruin your ratings, but you’ve lost me for now.

  • GREAT, simple app; been using since iPhone 4!

I LOVE this app!!! :-) :-) :-) Fulfills its purpose, simply and easily :-) No annoying “extra functions” to detract from ease of use :-) :-) :-) CardStar is VERY handy, and SOOO easy to use!!! 😊😊😊😊 Useability has improved over the years, as technology has caught up with the app. (E.g., store checkout UPC scanners can now see iPhone screen properly :-) )

  • No support

Had this app on my Samsung phone and used it a lot. App crashed a few weeks ago, and now is not even available on the google play store. Had to install on my iPad just to retrieve all my card info.
  • Display store Logo

The only reason why I didn’t give this app 5 stars is because the store logos have to be reloaded every week. I often get to the store to find I have not reloaded the logos and the store name is so small that as a person who wears reading glasses it’s nearly impossible to see. Not sure why this has never been changed but it seems a bit of a no brainer.

  • Exit: Fixed - Instacrash on iOS 13

Though it’s still essentially the same dated app it was years ago, I’m very happy it’s back and that my cards are all there. Appreciate the response from the developer that it’d been fixed as well.

That said, that it instacrashed day one on iOS 13 and has apparently had trouble during past iOS updates has me using an alternative now. Great app when it was released and I enjoyed using and recommending it for years. But this issue scared me away, I’m afraid.

Original one-star review: Looks likes support has finally died. Was in store, tried to open app for the first time since the iOS 13 update, saw opening screen, and CRASH. Tried again, HARD CRASH. It’s dead, Jim. Goodbye cards. Sheesh.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the report! An update is now available that resolves the iOS 13 crash. You will find your saved cards are available again in the update.
  • SECURITY FLAWS!

My Cardstar account was accessed by an authorised party while I was asleep, and all Cardstar did was email me about the activity and told me to email support if I had any concerns.

There was no immediate option in the app to change password or block your own account.

When I emailed support, the email bounced back. Now I am vulnerable.

Apple: please review this app as I don’t think an app as weak as this should be hosted on App Store.
