  • Things need fixing

So I love this app I do but at the moment my app will not stop crashing when I post an ask and my ask box numbers will not clear after I have responded either no matter what I do. The app also will not keep up to date with recent messages either until I actually go into it and check.
  • Alternative to social media

I downloaded tumblr because I thought it would be a good alternative to apps like TikTok and reddit, most users are nicer and you still get that sense of community and fandoms without doom scrolling and as much toxicity (I know there are still trash people on tumblr I just feel like it’s easier to stay away from it)
Iv only had it for a couple days but it has been really fun so far. I also particularly like that you can’t see how many like of followers people have, it definitely negates some of the ‘popular accounts just becoming more popular and newbies struggling to get in’ situation that lots of other apps struggle with.
Over all, great app, looking forward to exploring it more!

  • Has gone downhill

Get rid of annoying popups begging us to buy your features and constant broken ads (specifically the candy crush one that plays audio even when you scroll down that has no way to stop it except restarting the app). Stop banning trans women and Palestinian bloggers for no reason. Also, fix bios (you can only see the first few words of them unless you use the browser). It’s really annoying when features like this are broken but when you go to tumblr browser on your phone it has constant popups telling you to download the app. Also the video player is REALLY bad. It used to be better so idk what happened

  • Ads Galore!!

Okay, so I’ve had my tumblr for 13 years now, and I love it very much. I’ve tailored my dash to be exactly what I need. It’s like a well seasoned cast iron. However, the mobile version of this app consistently gets on my nerves. I’m aware that you need to advertise to run a service, but oh my god, these ads open like 4 separate apps when I didn’t even click on the ad. Sometimes I won’t even be near an ad and I will get dragged away from tumblr. It’s actually super frustrating. Not to mention, an ad will literally hold me hostage and scroll at an unbearably slow pace to make sure I see it. It is very uncomfortable for me, as a user, to be consistently dragged away from your app. Sometimes I actually get annoyed enough to close out because I don’t want to deal with that. I thoroughly enjoy my time on the app, but pestering your user base will never be enough to encourage me or anyone else to buy premiums. They will just… leave. Again, I totally understand advertising, and I actually don’t mind dealing with the ads that pop up in feed. It’s the aggression and annoyance of the ads opening up other apps and browsers that is just so aggravating!!! Please let me scroll past these ads at a NORMAL pace, and please stop dragging me from your app to take me to the App Store for a game I couldn’t care less about. You want people to stay on your app, don’t shoo them away!

  • A Genuine, user-friendly experience

I truly believe that Tumblr is one of the least toxic social platforms on the internet. Tumblr is just a fun place where you can destress after a long day at work or school, most of the communities are super wholesome and the platform is just an overall uplifting place where people can talk about fandom, Comics, Fanfics, The latest shows, Art, Etc. I’m finally at peace with myself after they removed “Tumblr live” because now that it’s gone I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting the useless button on my feed. Another thing to mention is that there are so many fandoms to find and explore with so much creativity and love put into each one. It’s also a great place to post your own art and fanfics with genuine nontoxic feedback unlike Reddit or Twitter. The only thing to note is the NSFW (not safe for work) content but I do appreciate that the site doesn’t show you that kind of content unless you search for it, yes once in a while your dashboard will show you a NSFW pic but it’s genuinely minimized unlike Reddit which will show you a NSFW post every couple scrolls, another thing I will warn you about is that you will get scam messages asking you to join NSFW sites but these messages can be deleted and in my experience will go away after awhile. I genuinely rate the app a five out of five and highly recommend for anyone who’s new to the internet or is interested in a genuine, wholesome social media platform.

  • Pretty good :)

its pretty great!!! 99% of people are super nice and i have made a lot of friends. there are lots of antisemites and porn bots but you can just ignore them and block them pretty easily.

also, i wish you could like filter out specific tags on specific blogs and not all of tumblr. (you can filter certain tags out tumblr wide already). like for example, let's say there are 3 topics, A, B, and C, and im following two people. one person posts about A and B, the second about B and C. i like A's posts about topic B but not the second persons, im following them for topic C. so i wish i could filter out the second person's topic B specifically without filtering out the first person's B too. i feel like this would be helpful. thanks.

  • I genuinely love Tumblr

Tumblr is honestly such a nice platform, lovely communities and Yknow- a app that takes care of its “bots” problem (looking at you Twitter).
It’s easy to navigates and find what you want within just a second, I appreciate that it’s easy to log in to your account and that the two step verification isn’t a buggy mess!
My only iff about this app is how adding tags can sometimes be a little time consuming, I feel that if the tag thingy actually took in your previous tags that you’ve placed it’ll suggest popular tags relating to the ones you have already tagged onto your post!
Either way 5/5 I love this app and u honestly think it’s just the better social media app!!!

  • Strange lack of features

No accessibility settings, not even an option to zoom in/out or reduce motion. You can set your theme to xX_r4v3r_Xx, but zooming out? Now you’re pushing it too far, pally. Strangely steep learning curve for something a simple as a reblog. Instead of just clicking the reblog button and choosing to reblog now, add additional media or queue to reblog like in the web app, you have hold the reblog button and slide upwards, or in the direction of the blog you want to post to. Weird and unintuitive; it took one of my moots telling me how to do it for me to get it. Useless icons are sprinkled everywhere, and again, lots of unnecessary motion. The video player is kind of trashy as well. And the app prioritises RAM, meaning it’ll keep itself loaded in favour of other apps, which doesn’t help when the app is so poorly optimised! And for the love of all, TURN OFF TUMBLR LIVE. It’s run by a third-party company that will steal your info without your consent if you don’t turn it off. Just use the web app.

  • Statistic

The app is really interesting and it has a interesting flow given the algorithm on every trending item used to have a bunch of unregular weird people that would just want to message you over the site the site they weren’t really artistic at all so I don’t use Tumblr as a dating site. I use it as a blogging page right now I’m shooting on the FX 30 on log so I’m trying to get really serious with connecting apps into with my business so I understand how other people really wouldn’t want networking to turn into hook ups that aren’t going into anything wise you know, my morals and respect and as business owner I get disrespected all the time, so the site really helps it limited amount of traffic that’s coming through my inbox. If my content is looking student aka professional wise, then I will get more people who are applicable to understand my art and not the people that would just look and keep going. It’s all a social standard to what we’re creating so the same type of person that just watching is the same type of person with a social status is just watching. We have to wait for the people who are really wanting to view my content and see me grow as an artist🍾🎉

  • NOT SEIZURE SAFE, APP GIVES NO CARE FOR NONPAYING DISABLED CUSTOMERS

Despite touting their “report an ad” function as fixing the epilepsy-causing problem that plagues the site, the function doesn’t actually do it’s job. It doesn’t even remove the ad immediately. Migraine and seizure inducing strobing effects are every few posts thanks to how many ads show up, and when you attempt to report an ad? It just goes “cool, we’ll take a look at it :)” and does nothing. I have reported the same ads MANY times, and will be discontinuing my use of the site as NONE of these ads ever actually stopped showing up.

And when questioned about it, their spokesperson simply said they were ‘working on it’ months ago, and told disabled users to ‘buy ad-free’

This is basically holding the health of disabled users for ransom money. So many support tickets unlistened to. So many strobing ads. And their ad-free is double the cost in my country as they use USD only.
