Robust dictionary and thesaurus with a suite of helpful resources
Overall, this is a great app for its ease of use and simple navigation between dictionary and thesaurus. There are a lot of blog-style articles with quick and entertaining info related to words, grammar and language. One thing I feel would be a helpful improvement would be a dedicated section under a searched word that displays all forms of that word. The app does display “Other words from ______” but a lot of the time it only shows the word with different prefixes or suffixes, or slightly different words that contain the original word. I’m constantly searching a word just to check all the different forms of a specific word and it’s just not available a lot of the time. Also, even after disabling WOTD and SOTD notifications in the app, I still get daily notifications for both.

Removing Account Feature=Lost Word List AGAIN
This app is generally good, I even bought a handful of upgrades because they aren't subscription-based like everything else these days. I had a cultivated word list that I lost a few months ago. I spent time rebuilding it and had created a handful of new word lists which I used frequently. Potentially due to this account deletion phase, I have lost my word lists AGAIN!!! This is obnoxious. This app works well if all you intend to do is look up words and synonyms or play the little daily games, but don't expect to be able to save words for future reference because they will just get deleted repeatedly!!! Obnoxious.
It looks like the word list function doesn't even exist anymore. It has been replaced by the less organized 'favorites' tab which lacks the ability to sort into separate lists. I was always adamant about storing things offline for this exact reason. Joke's on me for getting lazy and trying to use an in-app feature for once.

Issues since recent update
This is usually a great app but recently it hangs or comes back with no results for even basic words. What has changed?

I'm a writer and always wanna get the spelling right + getting to learn new definitions and words i've never heard of is awesome :)
Its also got a Thesaurus which i don't use much but its still there...soo hells yeah haha.

One of my favourite apps
I love this. It’s on the home screen of my phone with a select few others. I much prefer using this to searching for a word online. I love how I can save words that I’ve searched for. It’s a very well made app. Keep up the great work.
Not working anymore
Used this app for years, loved it. Suddenly it has stopped working and is now completely useless. No matter what word you search, it just says “no results” and won’t give you any definitions or anything. It’s been like this for 2 weeks now. Sucks, I used this lots when writing out things and it had been super helpful.
Tried to send this review in earlier. I don’t think it worked.
Update: app is still broken and it’s been a solid month now. Sad to see what had been such a great app turn to complete unusable garbage.

Used to be good (updated)
Had this app (paid version) for a number of years and it used to be pretty good, just recently stopped working so useless now. Doesn’t even recognise basic words like ‘car’ now. I’ve emailed support but as others have said, No response.
Update: it has now started working again so is my go to dictionary app again.

No results found
“No results found” appears on every word I try to look up. Is someone fixing this major bug?

It’s 8/8/24 and I’ve seen a lot of other reviewers seeing the “no result found” you’re not alone! I’ve been using this app for years and even paid for the upgraded version so I understand the frustration.
The solution is to purchase the app, go to settings, turn on “download the offline dictionary ” which is 800mb, and turn on “always use offline dictionary” and the “no results found” should stop!
I know people don’t want to spend the money on the upgrades but as someone who writes it’s a need and worth it, still giving this 3 stars because it seems like such a sleazy way to force people to buy an app, and even more upsetting that you have to do these extra steps! It’s clear the developers are sketchy or even con artist because there are many reviews all saying the same thing and they aren’t listening. I hope I was able to help!

Most of the app features *do* require a network connection to function. The Offline Dictionary upgrade gives you access to our offline dictionary and thesaurus file; when downloaded, this allows you to still conduct word look ups in our dictionary or thesaurus while you are offline. But the other features in the app won't be available while offline; they continue to need a network connection to work.
