Love this app - I just transferred my GEDCOM file straight into the app via iTunes - it all worked really well and I now have my full tree on my iPad. No photos as I use Family Tree Maker but not stressed about this. Thanks.Winmadd

Great program for ipod touch. Everything went smoothly in getting databases installed. No problems at all so far! I was surprised that it held all the information in my databases and could display them. Thanks!!!! Amazing!IndianaRC
Fine APP
I found this little app ideal for my family tree of 1300 individuals.
I use Family Tree Maker 2011 on my computer and GED View stores a copy in only 475 kb. It's fully searchable sand will be a great asset on genealogical field trips.

An outstanding genealogy application
I love this! Now I have my entire FTM database with me. Need information at the library? Archives? Museum? With this app and your GEDCOM, you are in business. I love the fact that all of my notes are there. Every source I have entered, is there. It will make talking to a fellow researcher or librarian easier when i can show them the source materials I already have utilized. Truly a great app.Show lessFlecka's Papa
Misleading icon and limited functionality
This is not really a family 'tree' app as far as I can tell. It is limited to the table views shown in the screenshots. From the icon at the top of the page (the same icon you'll see on your iPad) you would guess that you could actually view and navigate or scroll your family tree as a tree, but you can't. That's right - there is NO tree view included in the app!
Misleading marketing at the very least (angry remark deleted here). A waste of £2.39 since I used it for all of 10 minutes and then reverted to a real family tree program on my laptop. Can I get a refund if I give back the app?Show lessMarcus - no relation
Very happy
I've been using GEDVIEW for about a month and have gone through one update. All of the features work very well. Gedcom downloads are a snap. I especially like the fact that notes and sources are included, which is very useful in the field. Had one support question which was answered immediately and solved.Show lessRoot digger

Can now link to photos in iPhoto, which is great.

Great App!
I needed an app to view my genealogy database on the go. Most other apps were tied to a specific program or needed to be online to work. I now have all of my data on my iPod Touch and at a reasonable price. It does everything that I would need it to do for a barebones viewer. Looking forward to seeing what the author plans for future adds.Show lessLightGeek

Was able to quickly download everyone in my Family Tree Maker to this app, & now have everyone's info with me anytime I have a chance to do a little research. I can quickly update this app anytime I add more info to Family Tree Maker. I love it!!!keep-knittin
A good basic tool - fantastic support from the author
The App comes with a manual which is helpful but never the less I had a problem with uploading my data from PC to iPad. I emailed the author David Knight and he replied in just under 30 minutes with a solution (I hadn't converted the file format to 'gedcom' using my family tree software ‘PAF’) and step by step guide using PAF.
