Some missing things, overall a great idea

This app has some issues. I spell out a c-7 using the dials and it insists that it's a eb6/c. Sure, I guess that technically correct but I am specifying c as the root! But when I punch in a c-7 explicitly the dials are set to the same notes. So how do get exactly what I want and how do I trust what the app is telling me?

This app still needs to be able to display more than four notes.

It does have some nice thing about it - the ability to see drop voicings and all inversions is wonderful.

Overall I feel like for the price this was a waste of money.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to review ChordLab. It has been many years of course, but we are only now allowed to respond. Returning more than one search result may be a way to alleviate your search concern. Other than that, however, this tool is all about 4-part voice leading - a technique in modern arrangement. So, there can't be more than 4 voices. We might do better, however, in emphasizing the truly specialist nature of this tool. ChordLab is not a beginner's chord app, but rather a specialized tool for modern arrangement.

Cool program

The chord finder feature alone would be worth the price of admission. I can't count the number of times I have been wrecking my brain to figure out a chord I found on the guitar so I could write it down somewhere. The other thing is that I actually needed something for piano and guitar. Also the circle of fifths is very cool. You definitely want to get this if you're into anything like alternative or jazz or want to move past power chords.

chord lab

A little sorry I paid $10. I have other chord programs and for some reason I thought it would show more than four notes per chord. (I should have read the fine print. Example...it would be nice to see all the notes in an 11th or 13th. Also, there seems to be no logic on the keyboard that let's you choose four notes for a chord. When you press a new key, it's hard to tell which note is going to go away. A least the circle of fifths part was okay.

Amazing...

I fixed the problem noted below by deleting and reinstalling. This is a really wonderful program. Great asset when sitting at piano without having to goto a computer.

Yes No

Yet another good idea from RoGame. Actually a very good idea! But yet another clunky user interface.

BTW, If you want to hear the chords in Bass you'll need to pay an extra $0.99 in-app. Hmmm.

Seriously guys, you have very good ideas but you need to update the GUI in a major way for a user to feel like the $$ spent was worth it. I know "it does the job" and it's an audio app. But for the price I'm sure my eyes deserve the treat too!

I spend a lot of time in your apps coz they are very handy for composition and theory!

The Circle of Fifths is an absolutely awesome idea! And though it's very slow and not too responsive, the user interface IS quite well done. Hmm. Almost like it wasn't made by RoGame (judging from all RoGame products).

So it's either a good UI, and a good idea, with a slow response. Or a seemingly outdated GUI and a good idea and a decent response.

I have a love hate relationship with RoGame software because of this. Truthfully, I don't think it's worth the full price because of the problems pointed out - maybe a couple of bucks less. And I would pay a few bucks more just to have a better UI.

BTW with the new update the app won't launch at all. I have rebooted the phone and reinstalled. Please fix.

=============

Update: when the app is installed, it launches correctly (after a reboot). The app won't launch at all right after you reposition it in the screen. I have tested this multiple times.

ParrotZach

Does not work. Will not open. Freezes on opening page for about 10 seconds and then returns to home page. It does not help if you tap on the opening page or not. What a disappointment! Please fix or refund.

Fails to start after first use.

I do not recomend this app. I installed and started ChordLab - everything seems ok. Until I close the app and start it again that is. It just freezes on the splash screen. The only work around is to delete Chordlab and install it. Again, it only starts the first time after I install it. Using OS 3.01. I only have 4 other apps installed.

Well Done

This application is really helpful specially when you want to know the name of a chord. I see you have added more chords, well done keep adding chords and this will be, really a great application.

Not bad

Like monodialia said it could use the up grade with some more stuff. I know for me u would like to see some gospel chords on here to help me out when I get stuck. But other than that, it's great!!!
