(Still) Not great for Shows
It is impressive in a way at how bad this app is at one of the core features of SiriusXM: playing spoken content like Howard Stern.
– For spoken content, next and previous buttons go to different chapters, sometimes a chapter can be over an hour long so if you hit the button by mistake, you will be searching for minutes to find where you were previously. All podcast apps use the skip forward skip back because it makes sense.
– When streaming audio, the app buffers maybe 30 to 60 seconds of content, so if you lose signal, goodbye to whatever you were listening to until it comes back.
- So to solve the previous point, you might think you could download the show and listen to it off-line, but when you don’t have a signal, downloaded shows regularly won’t start until a signal is acquired, which is completely insane.
- this one primarily happens when it’s video content: if you start audio in a different program or switch between different apps on your phone, intermittently, the app will simply go back to the start of whatever you are watching/listening to and you then again have to find your previous position by just searching around which is completely ridiculous.
