Fantastic App

Nov 2024 Update: I admit I was one of the original naysayers after the big change from Tecarta to LifeBible a couple of years ago. See my original review below. I just loved the simplicity of the Tecarta app. Still I stayed with it. Wow - has my view changed. I truly love the new app. I am the leader of a Christian ministry and I am in the Word 1-4 hours a day, everyday and much of it is on this app. I have 10+ Bible apps and Life Bible is by far the best of them all. Butter smooth in operation, easy to use and find what I need. Perfect daily reading app and a very powerful study app as well. Love the new notes integration (would like to be able to search by a tag - but maybe an update for the future). Anyway no real reason for this review other than to say well done to the developers and keep up the great work!

Was trying to get used this new app but canโ€™t because now it is super slow and glitchy on two different iPads. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Update: essentially unusable on my iPad Pro 9.7. Also anytime I open a note on my iPad Pro 11 it slows waaay down to the point of being unusable. I have removed and reloaded numerous times on both iPads to no avail. Developers - please fix.

Your app icon is ugly it needs a facelift. Perhaps an option for users to make it darker?

Fabulous App

Iโ€™ve been using this app since I first had an iPhone - a 3 I think. Itโ€™s always been stable and the improvements that have been added over the years have been terrific, especially in the search category. On top of that the support Iโ€™ve gotten from the Help Desk has always been excellent and timely. Thank you team for such a great app that keeps me in the Word.

Incredible

Truly an upgrade

Old version was better

When the previous version retired it was stated that everything in the old will be synced. Now after syncing the old thing, I discover that the new one has ads and ask me to pay subscription, this is unethical from the company. Also the new layout is lousy unlike the original version. I paid lot of money on the old app buying many resources through it. Now I find that I have to pay more. This will never happen. Avoid paying anything to this app. Get the free version and donโ€™t pay a penny.

Taking note/ Jarai bible and Vietnamese Bible

I couldnโ€™t take note on this version, even though it clearly show that thereโ€™s notes

Hoping they added Jarai bible on the mobile app as well the Vietnamese bible in the near future.

Excellence personified

I have been using this amazing Bible App for many years now . It started as Tecarta and then became Life Bible. Over the years the App has developed in unexpected ways and now has absolutely wonderful features which are easy to use . The range of resources available, study Bibles and Commentaries is spot on. I love the search facility and provision for note taking. The odd occasions when I have needed customer support , they have never failed me. I always get a most helpful response . In short this the most prized App on my iPhone.

Improved

More colours Easier searching Previous version was excellent This version has all the features of the previous version and some. I have been greatly disappointed by other product โ€˜upgradesโ€™ so was wary of this one so I have been pleasantly surprised

A gamified app, not a Bible

This is a gamified concordance, not a Bible. You cannot read it. It is not a useful aid for reflection and meditation. The words are not the Message - โ€œthe medium is the message.โ€ It is a frame that masks its masterpiece.

Every square centimetre of screen real estate is boobytrapped with a popup, markup tool or mode shift, or some other IED. It artfully transforms the practice of prayer and centring into a balloon-popping midway arcade game. The Bible isnโ€™t even the default view or left-most button. Those are reserved for advertising, this appโ€™s higher calling.

If you have ever used a paper Bible, it is hard to penetrate this grating experience. You are served a spectacular meal in a mousetrap. If you try to touch your food, it jumps up and snaps at you. Do this two or three times and you completely forgot you were hungry, and are driven to abandon it.

That said, it works fine as a feature rich, bug-free gamified concordance. If thatโ€™s why you want, it is a five-star success.

A Good Revamp of Tecarta Bible

I like lots of things about Life Bible, including the three character method of choosing a Bible book. I like the ability to export my notes to a form in which I can further edit them. I usually take notes while listening to sermons, but I missed some of this morningโ€™s sermon while experimenting to find out how to create a new note (rather than append to last Sundayโ€™s note).

The modality of this part of the user interface results in the โ€œnew noteโ€ control being totally hidden until in non-edit mode. Modal interfaces are frequently a nuisance for users, and app designers should avoid them as far as possible.

I am rewriting my app for Bible translators (Key It, on the AppStore) in SwiftUI. I discovered that
.onChange(of: isFocused) { action } where action calls a local suitable save function ensures that the most recent edits are saved before control passes to whatever the user selected. That way every verse visible is editable and I donโ€™t need a modal interface.

With a little more attention to detail and elimination of irritating modality, Life Bible will get 5 stars from me!
