Crashes on every search
You can search English to Egyptian; that works. Egyptian to English, however, does not work. The app crashes every single time. I have deleted it and applied for a refund; but my advice would be to save yourself the bother.

Good for students
This simple to use hieroglyphic dictionary allows you to look up words from the user language and Ancient Egyptian. It could be improved by the addition of a standard transliteration font for the look up, but it uses other standards such as Gardiner’s sign list so it is a useful tool. I have been using this app for several years now, and find it handy to double check my work when translating.

Pro: very accurate and learned a lot. Thousands of translations.
Con: no relevance filter when searching words.
Overall: one of the best apps I have, and I believe it is worth buying if you are serious about ancient Egypt!

Easy to use, great features and transliteration modes. For serious student rather than novice.

This is a terrific resource, and a reminder of how technology can actually be useful rather that just so much noise and distraction. The interface is intuitive and simple to use, and makes very good use if the iPhone SDK's strengths.
What is particularly handy is the fact that a translation problem can be approached from different angles (glyphs, transliteration, or English).
If I had one feature request to make, it would be the addition of a results filter function which would allow the user to remove hits from queries with a large number of results.
Whether you are a student or simply a hobbyist such as myself, this purchase is well worth your investment.

Useful and well done
I'm an Egyptology student so I use this app all the time, but it's great for anyone who likes Egyptian. It's incredibly convenient and easy to use. Plus it has a huge number of words so you'll probably find what you're looking for.
