  • Thanks for the update guys. Excellent

I was so disappointed with the old version cause it didn't have a pause button or online leaderboards. Forunately you guys put both those requests in the new update and I'm greatful. the price is still a rip off but no big deal. Love the new obstacles and soundtrack. a great improvement to the last version.  all the way.

  • Why Some Ideas Just Work...

It couldn't be much simpler, just a pixelated little man running his heart out thru a world under siege. He runs at his own pace, the only control you have is when he jumps. The more rooftops he clears, the faster he goes. Doesn't sound like much, does it?

Well, this is easily one of the most addicting games for the iPhone I've played. The graphics are stripped down, simple gray tones, the music pumps you along and you just never know when a battleship blast may turn you into a fine mist.

I am currently playing the latest update 1.2 which claims to have an alternate soundtrack and new obstacles, but I have yet to find them. Maybe on the next rooftop?

  • over priced buuut...

the game is simple and fun. if you dont mind paying, definitly get this
  • Amazing

Most addictive game I've ever played. So simple but so fun.
  • Wonderful fast casual platform game

Canabalt doesn't need Pause because if you break concentration long enough to pause the game, you're dead. But one tap later you're running again, so no big deal. If you like you can tweet your high score.

If you want something that can give you a brief but intense flow experience; a casual distraction and an addictive sense of kinesthetic pleasure, get this.

  • Good times!

    UPDATE:

My bad re: missing the music volume option - it's in settings panel of the iPhone, not in the game itself. No complaints now.

    --------

Was so hesitant to buy this game due to the vast number of glowing reviews that have clearly been written by the developers and their friends (the review that suggested that the game should, in fact, cost MORE because we should be happy to support such nice developers? Good lord), but I gave it a try any way and it's good! As other leitimate reviews have mentioned, it's just jumping - very simple - but addictive and quite exhilerating. I frankly don't care whether the graphics are retro and B&W (they could be ultra-realistic and dazzling technicolour and it wouldn't make a difference to me), as the concept is good enough to keep me coming back for quick pick up and play.

I can't see myself ever playing this game for longer than 15 minutes, but I do pick it up often during idle moments.

My one complaint is that the music can't be turned off. Yeah, it was pretty cool the first time I played the game, but by the 60th time I wanted to tear my hair out. The in-game sounds are fun and I'd like to be able to hear them without feeling like I'm at some lame club.

  • simple and addictive

this game is simple and addictive. sure it can improve on a few things but i have no doubt that that will happen in future updates. scoreboard system should be improved on. the game is still really fun
  • Only one difficulty setting - Very Hard

Hard to avoid the rockets, can't see them coming and only a split second to react. And sometimes impossible to know if you should slow down (hit the boxes) or speed up - until you see the next building - by which time you've gone splat against a wall. Recommended for those with super quick reflexes. I think I'm too slow for this.

  • Great game that nails the iPhone

Simple games work best on the iPhone, and this one absolutely nails it. If you're looking for something that you can pick up and play for just a minute, then this is it. Massively immersive, quick gameplay makes it the perfect game for when you've only got a couple of minutes but still want to get some gaming in. Love it.

  • Needs a pause button

I play this game regularly while at work to take my mind off things and when I think people aren't watching. When I think someone is coming into the office I have to quickly exit. It would be great if there were a pause button. I realise the screen is very clean at the moment with just the great graphics, but for me a pause button is what I need.
