  • Solid, but has a way to go to be great.

Good game that can be a ton better with some very simple additions/fixes 1. Needs levels. Scenery gets boring pretty quickly and lacks a sense of accomplishment 2. Needs a pause game 3. Needs more varitey to the buildings. Again gets boring really fast. 4. The jumping should be more sensitive to touch and swiping. The simplicity of the controls is great, but too simple. 5. I'd prefer the controls to be off to one side. I can't find a place to tap or swipe on the screen without interfering with the action and covering up things I need to avoid or jump over. 6. It's pricey (in iPhone terms) for such a simple game. It's a great concept, just about 1/2 way there. Has good potential though. Hope they update it with many of the requested features.

  • So Simple yet So Awesome

I saw this game online about a week ago and played the free flash version and was immediately addicted. I thought to myself, I'll just keep playing the free version, but I just couldn't stand not having it on my iPod, so I bought it. It has Unlimited replay value. What keeps me playing is my mind keeps thinking that there is something at the end if I keep running, lol. I would ask the developers to add an accelerometer feature that mimics the jump feature, so when we jerk our iPod, the runner leaps. Anyways, thanks for my new "favoritests" game!

  • Stylish genius!

This does not have good colour, depth, variety, or options. It's amazing. This heavily styled game should have been made 25 years ago and been an eternal classic we'd all love. As it's new, too many people seem to complain because it doesn't have the flashy, empty rubbish attached to a lot of games.

The randomised play means it can be quite rough on you, so there is a mixture of skill and a little luck. The basic distance based score gives you something to achieve, and I can't stop playing it.

This is not a great game because it has a bigger gun than the last one. It's great because it's actually creative, diferent and fun!

  • Great game!

Maybe should have been a little cheaper in price but I am really enjoying this game. Addictive.... Very. An online scoreboard would be a great addition, with worldwide, regional, weekly monthly daily best distances ran etc... Love the retro feel to the game. Music is very good and adds to the intensity you feel as you pick up speed and race to your inevitable doom! Great work guys! Often the simplistic of games can be the most fun!

  • Ok for a short time

If you look at the screenshots, well that is exactly what you get. There's nothing else to see. The game has you automatically running along and you just touch the screen to jump over obsticles and gaps. That's it. There is no more. Be ok for $1.29 but not worth its current price of over $4
  • Very Fun

Fun, but pricey for such a simple game. You just tap to jump, and there are only a few different obsticles. Gaps, windows, collapsing buildings, and bombs will kill you, while boxes will slow you down. The atmosphere is amazing, however. The music, sound effects, and background are steller.
I find myself coming back to this app over and over when I have a few spare minutes. This game is like Doodle Jump, in that it has amazing replayability, and fills in your spare time quite nicely. I find myself comparing this game to doodle jump and other games like it more than once. This is why the price bothers me a little. I have no regrets at all about buying this app, and if your willing to spend three dollars on any app, I would highly recommend this one.

  • Worth the price tag.

Well worth the price tag. Canabalt's daring escape is fun over and over again. Simple yet stunning visuals combined with music to rival that of Little Runner makes this a must-have on the iPhone. Just remember to play with headphones on (as suggested in the splash screen) to get the full effect. Some obsticles (the bombs) are hard to hear coming from the built-in speaker, and WILL kil you if you're not expecting them. Jumping through windows takes some getting used to, and the randomness of the levels can sometimes be frustrating, but overall this is a solid app.

  • Brilliantly Realised Show Stopper.

This game not only plays like an action game should - fast, frantic, and exciting - It also looks absolutley mesmerising. Every attension to detail has been thought through, including glass smashing into tiny pieces, flocks of pigeons flintching in flight at your arrival, even the somewhat dystopian presance of a city being taken over by lord-knows-what behind you. With all it's lush pixel art design and animation, it has that retro look that makes you feels like your playing an handheld game from the early 90's that you mistakingly left in the attic with all your other toys. It's a simple concept that has been brilliantly put into excution. The price is a little more than I'd usually expect to pay, but it you like addictive little action games, this is certainly worth the price.

  • Elegant, Brilliant, Addictive

Canabalt is elegant in its simplicity, yet challenging enough to be addictive. The goal: to dash as far as possible before meeting your inevitable demise. The graphics are gorgeous in all their grey, pixelated glory. I particularly love the parallax scrolling background which gives you a hint of what you may be running from (giant robots destroying humanity) without the need for some boring and elaborate intro. The birds are also a lovely touch. Gameplay is perfect as a quick time-waster. It takes less than a minute or two to play and requires one finger to jump. The sound design and music are also fantastic...suitably atmospheric and stressful. My only request is for a global high-score table, and push to facebook instead of twitter.

  • great game but has some bugs

I love the graphics, sound and overall concept.

the only thing holding this back from a 5 star rating are some bugs.

ie. occasionally the game will state you have died when you haven't actually done anything that would cause a death. in one case I died as soon as the level started and it told me I ran -7 metres.
