  • 5 Stars EASILY Except for the Crashing

I very rarely write negative reviews if apps crash. It's usually down to not restarting the iPhone on installing it or will be fixed with a future update. That's not my case: I am a veteran and know the score.

I so WANT to enjoy Yoritsuki, and simply cannot because of the crashing.

In fact, after 2 mins of playing with the app (selecting vistas, sounds etc) on my two i-Devices, both earlier generations, the app caused them to REBOOT altogether. Very frightening, as I do not yet know if this has caused lasting damage. I suspect it might have to do with the retina display upgrade, which is too much for my gadgets to handle.

SUCH a pity, as this is one of the hidden gems in the whole App Store.

If you have an iPad, this is a no-brainer. It's the height of elegance to own it. It reminds me of staying at the Seiryuso Inn, a wonderful elite ryokan.

But stay away if you have earlier i-Devices.

(Should devs fix this with an update soon, I will happily change my review to 5 Stars)

  • Simply Beautiful

This app is very simple, but absolutely gorgeous in design. It's very relaxing to select the parameters you want, and then quietly observe the scene. I love the combination of the sound of rain and thunder, the Shishiodo, and a single wind chime.

Thank you for the Retina Display upgrade! I'm really looking forward to an iPad version.

  • It's very nice now

    It's great after the update
Now it looks beautiful on my iPhone 4
I didn't like it when I hid the menu back in the previous version, I'd also hide the clock. But I can see the clock now even if I hide he menu 
  • Exquisite graphics but too small again!

Like their Nib Clock (*ahem* which still needs a scale and calendar update!) this is gloriously animated, beautiful and much too small.
The problem is, aside from personal perference, that the screen resolution is much tighter than on a Mac or PC (something like 163 dpi vs 72 dpi - I forget exactly) and so whilst the designed screenshots here look super-glorius, on your iDevice much is lost. On top of that, the main garden animation is less than two-thirds the height of the already small screen. It's still great closeup in your hand but would be better being dock-friendly.
    I would suggest and ask:
*For a zoom option - preferably clock-mode garden-view to full screen.
*For a portrait-rotation option - very useful for when vertically docked. Indeed this is likely to be the default orientation for the majority of people who would view this docked.
*For a clearer and larger font time-display - the inner shadowing effect on the time (when you double-touch the time) on a black background makes it hard to distinguish what the time is. This is especially true given the different screen angles and a short distance away you may have the docked device.
    Cheers !

  • Beautiful app

This app is aesthetically pleasing--when I'm able to view it. For whatever reason, it works well enough on my 3rd gen iPod Touch. On my new iPhone, this app, for some reason, crashes and I'm never able to make it past the opening screen image. I've always been happy with the yoritsuki app but this diminishes the quality for me. I've deleted and reinstalled the app; restarted my phone and it still crashes.

  • Yoritsuki for iPad?

I first saw this app months ago and have vacillated about buying it until now. The facts that 1) the price was reduced and 2) it now does just a little bit more were enough to get me to drop $1.29. What I don't understand is why there isn't an iPad version of this app. It seems absolutely perfect for that (comparatively) giant, beautiful screen. Please, HYBRIDWORKS, make an iPad version!

  • This is a gorgeous app

It's about as useful as the zippo app and the lightsaber app. I mean really those apps do next to nothing but they're fun to play with, thats the point right? I play with this one when I am at work, I switch it to a fun setting and then relax with my headsets on while I work away. :) Very nice! It's also visually gorgeous. I love having a tiny setting to put together, even if the options are limited. The NEW release offers a lot more options. DEFINITELY something to try out. Now it's ONLY .99 and thats awesome because I paid more for it when it was more expensive before. I have several apps like this, a koi pond and goldfish pond and a few others. I happen to like these apps! Some people claim that these are written by the company but honestly I think this just isn't the sort of app they were looking for.

For .99 it's a really fun little app. :) Beautiful and relaxing too!

  •  just some thoughts....

This app is really soothing! When I opened the app my mind went completely into relax-mode.  But a few suggestions:
What if you could create wind in the woodsy scene? All you would do is slide your finger across the scene.
I think you should also be able to create more of the lanterns and be able to move them like maybe on top of the table.
I would love it if I could hear the thunder, so not JUST distant thunder. One last thing is what if the birds (or bird) came into your room and perched on something-like i dont know maybe the table?---
I was just thinking if you could soften the sounds outside the room so you could hear the wind chime.
These are some thoughts that I thought could give some ideas. Please respect my ideas and others. 

  • Stunning!

This is an app I look at every day. It's so soothing, and the look is beautiful all through the seasons, day and night. I love the update, too. Any chance you will make an iPad version to take advantage of the bigger screen? Thank you so much for this beautiful app.
