  • Very Promising

Excellent for illustrating complex processes like chemistry. Has all the basic components of a very flexible mathematical tool. I am happy to support this developer. Can't wait to see how Oovium evolves.

  • What if analysis

This is a great app as it gives you great what-if analysis with a few numbers. I am a CFO and find myself in meetings needing some of the power of a laptop and Excel but this app is quickly becoming a replacement.
  • Actually it's brilliant...

However, it has one little niggle that for me puts this as a four star instead of the six I want to give it.

The niggle is that if I'm working in Landscape mode and go away from the app, when I return its back to portrait mode and I have to move the iPad. Not the end of the world, I know, but an irritation. I know the developer is aware of this and is looking at ways he can get rid of this niggle so I can give the six stars the app deserves.

The best thing about this app is that you can set up a calculation with labels on the amounts and be able to show it someone who would find a spread sheet mind boggling but will be able to follow the calculation in Oovium. As I said above, it's brilliant!

  • A keeper

    I love it.
I've been using other apps to try to get some simple but large calculations into perspective, but it's hasn't worked.
This app is perfect for me. You can visually see your calculations and their relationships.
I love the labeling feature. I don't feel I need zoom like others have mentioned. The app auto expands as you go, and you can rearrange things as you go. So zoom is not needed.
The only recommendation would be to provide simple titles or tips for the objects you add from the top right. It took me a while to figure out their uses. The fist one was easy, the other two, not so easy.
I have not figured out what the 2nd smaller thing in the top left is for. I can see I can add notes, but what does it do when I add an aether to the list of another aether. This is where some guidance in the app would be great.
My favorite thing about the app is that you can essentially create your own objects, then make calculations based off of them. Very fun! Keep up the good work.

  • Neat but not ready

Interesting concept but limited capability, stability and documentation at this point. I very quickly got it to crash, and now attempts to remove the offending bubble also cause a crash. In
-app help is very sketchy, but there is a link to a helpful forum. Price seems high for what seems more like an alpha version than a stable release.

  • Even better

I was using the prior version of oovium for my college chemistry class. I can say it made things so much better, but that's an under statement. Since the update it is now the go-to calculator for my chem calculations. I simply don't understand any negative ratings for this app.
  • Hmmmm....

Seems good so far, and as other comments state it has a glowing future. My only reason for 4 stars is limited in-app help, and problems with online forum. Hope to be able to up this to 5 stars soon...

UPDATE: Change to 5 star rating. Excellent support from developer, and forum - while in its infancy - has some great additional info. If only all apps were supported like this!

  • Unique

This is a unique app, one that you can visually design your formulae and at a later date, easily disseminate them. Each one is laid out visually, showing the various components that you used to get to your final result. Like I said, unique, with an impressive implementation as well.

    Very pleased with the purchase.

  • Oovium vs Microsoft Excel

Oovium has great potential. I really like it that Oovium uses less mental processing to navigate a series of linked calculations than does Microsoft Excel. I was so impressed that I've transferred my monthly budget from Excel to Oovium. In my job I needed to check a colleague's Excel calculations for a subtle error that generated incorrect values. In Excel, searching for a formula error in a complex spreadsheet involves a lot of mental & 'notepad' processing. Most of the difficulty in Excel is found in visually keeping track of the location of cells that can't move, and tracking the connected formulae and their precedents and dependents. In contrast, Oovium, made it easier to label and visually trace precedents, dependents. Upon the touch of a finger, I could review and modify the formulae that comprise the 'bubbles'.

I am looking forward enthusiastically to future improvements and suggest features such as Undo / Redo, centering, cut/paste formula, colors, search and save.
