What a shame
I’ve used OKC off and on for over 10 years and it used to be the best dating app by far. I recently decided to give the Premium Membership another go because I had 100+ likes - what a mistake. Literally 80% or more of the people who like my profile are from other countries - often in the other side of the world - or they are people pretending to be in London when they’re actually in Kenya or whatever. I have nothing against foreigners but if I want to meet someone for a local date in the next week or so I should be able to turn off people’s ability to see me in other countries if I want to. I don’t have this issue on any other apps and I definitely won’t be renewing my subscription. I complained about this a while ago and was given a really unsatisfactory response. Recommended and Best satisfactory

Not worth it.
Unlike many other well-designed dating apps, OkCupid disregards your location settings and forces on you the obligatory international dating which is called “passport” section in the app. As a result, on the first day you registered, you’ll receive many “likes” which unless you become a paid number, you cannot see they are from whom. And if you pay, you will find yourself swamped in “likes” from male and females from all corners of the world, most are from America, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, hardly anyone is from your place if you do not live in one of these countries. Poor payment plans
The app itself is fine it does everything every other dating app does. My problem is the payment plans being ridiculously expensive imo. Only a single month subscription is 35 bucks and that's the basic package, the premium package which has the ability to see who likes you, costs 45 bucks for a single month. I would be willing to pay for the basic package only if they moved the ability to see who likes you to the basic package but aside from the unlimited likes there's no reason to subscribe to either. The premium package has no other good incentives to get it aside from seeing who likes you so basically that's what you're paying an extra 10 bucks for. The system they have set up of course pretty much forces people to pay for one of these plans but personally I find other apps have better plans or different pricing packages. For example, bumble allows you to buy their premium package (which includes everything in the single premium package) for only 1 week at 20 dollars and while that's still not amazing pricing I think it works better for people like me who would rather not spend over 130 dollars for 6 months with OkCupid. I'm frustrated at how much these dating apps rip off from people for features that should either be standard in the app or only 1 upgrade plan at a reasonable price. Watched this guru on TV being interviewed about how easily it is for our phones to get hacked without being noticed that it has been tampered with so I had to listen attentively to the conversation between him and the interviewer. This app has a major bug where swiping right on a profile actually swipes right on the next profile in the stack, which you haven’t seen yet. The end result is you can’t swipe right on the profiles you like and you end up matching with people you’re not interested in. This makes the app completely worthless and it’s been happening for over 6 months. I raised it with their support team back then but got no reply and it hasn’t been fixed.Show lesslowkeylukey

Okcupid found me a husband!
I was sceptical at first when downloading the app. I downloaded all of the other popular dating sights at the same time and I naturally gravitated to this one. After a few days of having the app I was messaged by my now husband and the rest is history! We now have a little girl together too and have a great life. It was the only app he downloaded so if it wasn’t for Okcupid we wouldn’t be together :) we loved the questions and percentage of compatibility as we found it a great ice breaker and an easy way to find out interesting things about one another without going into too many tangents.
