Fantastic app but crashes too much
I have loved this app since I bought it 3 years ago especially since it started supporting RAW photos but recently it has started to crash and close out 9 out of 10 times I open it to try and take a picture. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it, the screen just goes black and takes me back to my iPhone home screen. I have tried restarting my phone but doesn’t really eliminate the problem. Not sure if it’s the app or the phone or the os. I have a brand new iPhone 8, and it’s really frustrating that this keeps happening, it ruins being able to capture certain moments. Hopefully there is an update or fix coming soon.Show lesslake fiend

This sad day has been many years in the making, but I finally had to remove my beloved Hipstamatic from my iPhone. I have been a Hipsta devotee since day one, so much so it’s the only reason I’m still on an iPhone. It has been my singular stylized iPhone shooting and editing app since the first time I used it, and I suffered through all the issues over the years (they never really conquered iCloud syncing of edits, did they?).
But since approx v3 it’s just become so unstable to a point that it was ruining shoots. The issues started about a year ago, when Hipsta started killing my battery routinely taking my phone from 30% to a hard dead in seconds. On one shoot on the Highline in NYC Hipsta killed the phone so badly I had to take into an Apple store to get it restarted. Now with the latest version it’s completely dead, crashing on every start, displaying the lens on the case off-center, quitting but still running in the background, and still with the battery issues.
It’s a sad day indeed, but if you can’t rely on your photo software then it’s time for the software to go. It was a good run, old friend...😢Show lessPaper Master

I purchased Hipstamatic approximately one week ago and it worked flawlessly until this morning. I have really wrung this app out and found nothing wrong with it until, wait for it, until I updated my iOS. I updated to IOS 11.4.1 this morning and it has crashed regularly since then. I can only surmise that it is not the apps fault or the developers fault but it simply does not perform well under the latest iOS update. Hopefully, the developers will soon release an update incorporating changes that fix the problems with the latest iOS. I’ve been using this app in all of its iterations since the year it came out. I liked what it started out as, and I love what it’s turned into. Ȯggl was cool but is a complete ghost town now, so don’t bother, but it’s 2018 and Hipstamatic is still my favorite app for creative and fun photography. Still a buggy app, too many new releases without issues being addressed. The first Friday rarely shows up on a Friday and then you must update the app and your iOS.
It seems like arm twisting with these constant ‘update’ before you purchase our product tactic. So you update and it still tells you to update.
I so miss the app that first came out years ago. Simple and fun.

From what I am seeing and reading there are a bunch of us long time Hipstamatic users that wish you would have made your new version a stand alone app. Or waited to release when the bugs were all figured out. But you keep releasing new films and lenses ( which are not available to those that didn't upgrade ) and the bugs keep marching on. The thing I keep hearing from my Hipsta friends is that if we wanted to post process photos there is already numerous apps out there that do just that. The fun of this app was that it made you think about films and lenses and what would work for that particular photo. Now there's not much to think about because you can just 'fix it' after the fact. Come on let's get this right. Do some maintenance work on the 280, take the new one out for some major fixing and make the pro version a stand alone.Show lessdeshkaelf

When this app is working, it’s a lot of fun, but they still have issues crashing. Every time I try to edit a photograph, it crashes. I’ve spent A LOT of money on this app and for it to no longer work is a great disappointment.
They had the app working again a few weeks ago for both the iPhone and the iPad. Unfortunately it’s crashing so soon that you can’t take or edit a photo. Every time they update the app, it becomes worthless again. The fun to be had is only available during a small sweet spot of timeShow lessMike_in_vt

I loaded Hipstamatic several years ago. I found it fun and always grabbed any special or free offers when I found them. Since then I've become a more frequent buyer.
As many folks, I hopped around to try other apps. But never let go of Hipstamatic. I have an on and off again usage history with this app. It's always been my Ace in the hole.
Recently a new film Pak was released and it fired me up again. I had a few questions about matching lenses with films and finding my favorites. I wrote to service.
I'm happy to say the problem was me. The app is perfect. I'm still running my iPhone 6s and enjoy it and Hipstamatic together.
One of the fastest service responses I've had with any company in years. A responsive and knowledgeable tech walked me through the process.

Fix your crashing problem after your last update. I’ve been a long time user and have a lot of money invested in this app and this happens after every update. I’ve reinstalled twice and it still isn’t completely fixed. I belong to Hipsta groups and have seen many others complain. Maybe investing some of that profit into better technology and customer service would help. You have a great app and it’s a shame when I hear people say it’s only good for editing because you can’t use the camera. Kind of pathetic no?Show lessDolcevespa1
Where are my pics???
I have not used my Hipstamatic app in a few weeks. I normally use it frequently throughout a week and refer to my “Shot with Hipstamatic” album often. Today I opened the app and all the photos in that album are gone! I had backed up most of them so that’s not a problem. But I use that album heavily and had many pics in there that I was using. I just LOVE having them there for convenience & referring to for favorite gear combos. Where did my album go??? I’ve not changed anything & can’t figure out what happened. Please help!! From Flash to Crash
I began using Hipstamatic what it first came out on my iPhone 3. I loved it. It was my go to photo app. I bought sooooo many of the “films”, lenses, covers & extras. I absolutely loved this app.
However, it crashes constantly now. I’ve not been able to take a single photo with it.
I’m a professional photographer by trade for the military, so this is my fun app. I really loved it.
I was thrilled to see it back & improved, until I tried to use it I open it, try changing the film &/or lens, go to take a photo, and crash. Try reopening it, crash, crash, fail.
I’m truly bummed out. I hope the developer can fix it. I have an iPhone 7+ now, and probably won’t upgrade for another year or two, but when I do...I hope things are fixed. Shoot, I hope they get fixed now.
