For UK Only

I have no doubt that this service is excellent for people who live in the UK and have UK phone numbers. If you’re a tourist or a student living abroad however (like myself) then this service is useless. It is the most predatory creation I have ever had the displeasure of using. It will not accept any number but a UK number. If you don’t have a UK number, then you’re out of luck and will be forced to pay a £100 fine or risk getting towed. The only reason I was able to make this heinous invention work is because my girlfriend is British and let me use her number. If you’re a foreigner and are at a RingGo parking lot, go somwhere else. They will not have you, and given their practices it seems they don’t want you either. You’d be better served just driving your car to the pound yourself and sparing the extra towing fine.

International numbers can indeed create accounts using our website, however the process is slightly different than it is for UK numbers. Non-UK Mobile Support and No Support

Doesn’t work with non-UK phone numbers. Just a tiny, minor, little, irreverent detail since why would a tourist every visit Bristol or Glasgow?! Small hamlets, hardly worth a visit.

Chat support doesn’t work. Can’t call since, you know, you don’t have a UK phone number.
I spent 20min trying to get an agent for chat support with their “AI” system asking me the same questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and refusing to connect me to an agent.

If the developer responds with “use our chat service or call us”, then you clearly haven’t read this review and are copy/pasting. Fix your chat system and make it possible for me, as one of the rare tourist going to the UK, to use the app.

Why Register For An Account

Traveled to Scotland from the U.S. and saw what I thought was a convenient app for parking in the city, however because you need register for an account and it doesn’t have a guest option it requires verification to be sent via an SMS notification. Seems easy unless you don’t get the verification. I also tried a work around registering my car via voice and that was equally as frustrating. The results, wasted time while on vacation and going to currency exchanges for coins, along with a few parking tickets.

Useless

Omg what a complete waste of time these people are. First they don't tell you that your pass word has to contain symbols. Once you finally figure that out they either never send the confirming code or it just plain doesn't work for foreign numbers. Then when you phone for help or to sign up by telephone you they tell you the phone system isn't working. What's wrong with London council that they put up with these people?

2 fatal flaws that together create an unusable app

Some car park operators (such as Waverley Borough Council) have chosen to disable Apple Pay and Google Pay within the RingGo app for their car parks. But this renders the app entirely pointless for the user. RingGo must push back on operators who ask for this. Waverley BC had complained about difficulties of handling refunds, and so RingGo responded by allowing them to disable it altogether. That’s nuts. Made worse by the fact that if the user then, instead, chooses to load a credit card into the app - you can’t. That’s because the app doesn’t allow your phone to pre-load / pre-populate all the fields. Think about this. Users who regularly use Apple Pay or Google Pay are precisely the ones who are unlikely to carry their card. Meaning that users who get caught out by lack of Google / Apple Pay are completely stuffed. It really shouldn’t be this hard to pay for parking….
EDIT: post developers response… You’re still not addressing the 2nd issue. Why does your app make it so difficult to load a credit card?! Why on earth can’t you allow my phone to pre-load all the fields, like every other app and website in existence?!?

Payment method options is an Operators decision as they manage the car parking areas, not RingGo. Should you wish to add a payment card to your RingGo app then please contact us via our Live Chat service, where an agent would be happy to assist and guide you further.

Or regards. Replace the g with a t to understand my meaning. If you’re not from the UK just give up. It won’t accept a non-UK mobile number. Even the Reddit work around of selecting land line on the website to create an account and then use that to login to the app design work. So here I am in In a major UK city with loads of tourists from the around the world. And you have to use it to park (or carry loads of change). Honestly, it just makes the UK look bad. It’s one thing if some random app for guided tours doesn’t work but it’s a whole other thing if you can park. There’s absolutely zero excuse for this. Fix your app you complete regards.

Useless

What a hopeless app. Won’t send an international SMS, so we can’t register on the app, so we can’t use the carpark. Tried the alternative phone service - even worse - couldn’t recognize any of the car details across four different phone calls, spoken by three different people - all native English speakers visiting the UK. Line then just disconnects. No option to speak to anyone. What a joke of a service.

Absolutely trash

Does not working with non UK numbers which is absolutely ridiculous. Oh and the best part is that most parking places in Glasgow use this app. Tried using the live chat to create and account and after 20 minutes I gave up. This app stinks and shame on Glasgow for using it. Horrible.

Can’t Register with My Canadian Mobile Number

You need to fix this. We were in a car park in a tourist area that only accepted this app and coins, not credit card or notes. Its unacceptable that foreigners can’t use your app in a country that wants tourists. I see the advice to another reviewer was to register using live chat. I did this and the response was to include the country code which I did but it still didn’t work.

Not from UK… Not for you

This app will not work for SMS messages with cell numbers from outside of the UK. You will never be able to fully register in order to use the application.

Even worse was the number to “pay by phone”. The automated voice puts you into a round robbin asking the same questions on repeat without any live person available for help.

Do not be like me and waste so much time trying to get this to work.
