  • Classic story, unimaginative and repetitive app.

There are better interactive storybooks out there.
  • Great app with a major flaw

I really love this app and enjoy reading it with my daughter but PLEASE allow me to give it 5 stars by making the swipe to change page optional!

Every time she moves the stuff round on screen it changes the page and I have to close the app to avoid me throwing the iPod out of the window. It is a huge problem that almost makes this unusable for small children. She just wants to play with the graphics on one page but this is not possible for very long......please fix.

  • Worth every penny

A really amazing app for old and young! I just wish the iBooks were this much fun. A great choice of story too and an innovative way of presenting it. Well done!
  • Impressive

Imaginative and impressive. Perhaps slightly overpriced, but a nice demo for the capabilities of your iPad.
  • Great idea, let down by inattention to typography

This application is a mostly delightful demonstration of how much more an electronic book can offer than mere words on a page.

Unfortunately, despite the lavishing of attention upon the graphical elements of this work, some of the typographical details have been rather neglected. For example, non-typographical straight quotation marks make an intermittent and haphazard appearance throughout the text, although proper curved marks are sometimes used. I even noticed one instance where quotation marks around a phrase were opened but not closed. It’s a pity that the overall effect of this book is spoiled by such minor carelessness. I hope that future versions will rectify these distracting problems.

  • Beautiful

I think this app is absolutely worth the money. The animation within this text shows how we can begin to re-imagine books. Effectively this is a pop-up book for the digital age. In a bookshop, a pop-up book is likely to cost you in the $20s, so the price isn't such a big deal in that context.

My attitude-laden preteen son adores this.

  • Beautiful & stunning - The best iPad book!

This book is incredible, a genuine reinvention of the electronic book! I've been showing this to children (and adults) and they love it! I got this app after reading about it in The Sunday Times and watching the video. The critics are right, this really is the future of eBooks. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party is intriguing -- shake the iPad and the Mad Hatter bobbles about the screen. I use this to demonstrate my iPad's abilities.
You can turn the iPad upside down and Alice grows oddly tall. Rock the iPad gently and all kinds of strange and beautiful things start happening to the scenes. The artwork is brilliant and the story's as great as ever. Good old Lewis Carroll ! If you're looking for a good way to explain to your wife why you bought an iPad, this is it. I'm struggling to wrestle the iPad back off everyone I show this app to!
The physical simulations are great, they respond to all kinds of different changes in the iPad's orientation. Every telling of the story is different. What would make it perfect is a recorded narration, so you can leave young kids alone to be entertained by it. Having said that, it's quite motivating not having narration, since adults are then more likely to sit and read this with a child -- an experience I can recommend.

Looking forward to more titles adapted with this technology. Amazing work!

  • Disappointing

I got it, based on the hype of all media, and it is a disappointment. There is a lot of space for much more interactivity and multimedia. Didn't like it.... Hope to see more books but better.
  • I'm torn...

Pros: this is beautifully illustrated and there's just enough fun going on to not distract from the story.

Cons: it's super short for $9. I was expecting to do a few pages a night and was finished in two.

Overall: The lite version is only missing a few pages, so stick with that for free.
  • Great book, four year old loves it!

Considering a real book is the same price and this one offers beautiful pictures, innovative use of touch that is fun, and a good abridged version that is short enough for my daughter to enjoy... Well worth the price! Great job helping parents teach young ones that books are fun!
