  • Loving it

Literally my favourite art program! Been using it for years and plan to keep using it for the foreseeable future. Thanks a bunch for this guys. It’d be cool to be able to use this app on other devices that aren’t Apple too, but besides that I am loving it.
  • my most indispensable app!!! 😍 🎨 💕

UPDATE: As of April, 2019, this is still my most indispensible app. It's a necessity. In fact, I've come back to it after using their Pro version because when cropping older screenshots, this app correctly exports the NEW image with the NEW current date. The Pro version hasn't been doing that, to my dismay, and has left the bottom of my camera roll in a jumbled mess of old dates. So I've switched back to this app, and I'm grateful it's here!!! It's perfect for my needs 😍

    PREVIOUS REVIEW:

Finally, after working on a project in four other apps, and finding that what I wanted to do was impossible for me in those apps, I found ArtStudio!!!

I was able to learn enough about the app to complete my complex project in about an hour, right off the bat.

Funny thing was, even my existing Photoshop app couldn't seem to do what I needed, near as I could tell. So I recommend this over even Photoshop, for those of you with an iPad. Plus, you don't have to have any special ID (good grief) or use any "clouds" (which I refuse to do).

This app is a lot of fun, allows lots of layers,
and has a full Menu Bar that I love. My best app purchase so far!

  • Doubtfully easy!

Well it is very good but it's not THAT easy to get the hang of.
I'm a professional artist and it frustrated me setting up stuff.
Perhaps I need more time on it.
In any case I much prefer to draw on real paper, with real colours and real pencils and brushes, then photograph the drawing....upload to a drawing program and finish off.
    I'll give this a 4. Maybe a 5 later.

I use it, and it works.
  • Sincere Apology:

I wrote a very angry and unflattering review a few hours earlier, under the misapprehension that my original app had been hijacked with an inferior “light“ version.

Since, I’ve realized that a separate, inferior version of the app was also installed recently, (although how why and when, I neither know nor remember) and that the app that I paid for years ago is still functioning beautifully.

My apologies to the developers for my mistake, and erroneous public characterization; all evidence shows that they are honest businessman, and excellent at their craft.

If I seemed angry, it was only because I thought a very wonderful and crucial tool had been stolen from me – just when I was really starting to find a use for it.

To my experience, Art Studio is as high-quality a drawing app as you can get on an iPad/iPhone.

Thanks for your very excellent work.

  • Tool previewer still buggy on iOS 12.1.3

I love this app. It’s one of the few I found that has a selection tool and wand like Photoshop and let’s you edit and transform the selection without having to create a new layer. It has masking layers, cloud and render special effects, and I love being able to switch and sample colors just by holding my finger down for a few seconds. It looks like we can create our own custom brushes, too. There are a lot of features I haven’t used yet since I used the free version of the app with its three layers and small canvas size for three years. I felt it was worth buying the upgrade and I don’t regret a penny. :)

Now on to the bug report. Since I installed the latest update (January 2019) I’ve been having lagging problems (I bought extra icloud storage so that should not be a problem). The worst bug is the swatch that previews the size and shape of a tool. It has been freezing up even after I make my selection and staying on my screen, hiding my drawing. I’ve had to stop working five times and force close the app to get the previewer to go away, since leaving the app is not enough to unfreeze it. I see you’ve worked on fixing that glitch before, so if you can fix it again, that’d be awesome. :) Thanks!

  • Keeps crushing

    Keeps crushing
  • Once great, but now junk

I used this app for years to draw, but recently, I have had issues where it would crash every minute while I’m drawing.
I try to save often while drawing, but as the app kept crashing, the files would become corrupted, and I can no longer access it. It is infuriating when hours of work is suddenly wasted because of a now dysfunctional app.
Unless the developers have abandoned this app and are focusing on the Pro version, a fix for this serious issue is needed immediately.
Until then, I strongly suggest that everyone avoid this app. I myself refuse to use it any longer. Trying to draw with it is not worth the frustration.

  • Just a little suggestion

App is great, everything else is perfect. This is the only mobile app that allows you to do pixel art at a decent level. But its tedious to be zooming in and out to see your work as you edit it, can we please get a small window that hovers on our screen showing us a live zoomed out version of what we are currently working on? This will help to reach that last level of detail pixel artists need. I talked to a Lucky Clan member months ago and he said it would be implemented, but im still waiting on it, and we need it badly.

    New issues found:
    - Lots of crashes when working with pixels
    - Cant make .gif files

May 3, 2015 Request... Time to update to stay ahead of the pack.

Fantastic app!!! It really has no competition. The best there is.

    Review update...
Of 50+ iPad image/paint apps I use, this is by far the best of them all... hands down! I said it before, there are no other iPad apps that come as close to Photoshop as what ArtStudio does. Even if you don't use it as a paint app, it's image manipulation features make this one heck of a picture editor!

(Negative ratings don't do this justice. It's much better than what any gripes make it seem.)

Now, more than ever, this is the best there is. New iPad update has me using this for many of my image creating/editing needs!

    Previous version review...
Honestly, this is the closest it gets to an iPad Photoshop. The only areas holding it back are 1024 maximum resolution and unintuitive interface. If this could save at higher Rez, it would be the best image editor the iPad has.
