  • Cache errors

Great app, but offline viewing is problematic. For example, dled all of Manet's paintings to view but upon exiting then entering the app 1. All paintings have to be downloaded again (not cached) or 2. Turned off wifi for offline viewing test n only caches approx 1/10 of the paintings I've browsed through already.

  • Beautiful art reference

I hesitated to buy this because of the price tag, but it really is quite beautiful and as well as displaying the artworks it tells you about the artist so is educational too. It really works well in the iPad.
  • a good start

This app is in dire need of music, some classical tracks would be best. Also price is too high for what being offered, to further reinforce this not all pictures are HD they're low res/quality. Since I paid 10 dollars for a art app I was expecting quality pictures and a unique experience something like the art puzzle app, this was a let down in that area. I'm going to give this a 4 out of five since there is a lot of content but it really needs some improvements.

  • Great app for anyone really, not just artists.

I myself do visual arts as a course for my final years of school and after learning about the time period of art in class (e.g. Impressionism), it is great to bring in my ipad or look at it later of fantastic artworks through this app. It is very efficient and I love the layout of the gallery style. I personally believe anyone would love this app even if they are slightly interested in this app, a person who has only ever been to a museum once in their life would appreciate the many interesting artworks in the app. Their is thousands of artworks from thousands of artists. I love the fact that it gives a small caption of how the art was captured (painting or photography) and the fact that it provides a small synopsis of the artists bio, through his artwork.

The only little problem I would like to see taken care of in a update would have to be the fact it doesn't have most mediums, I would have liked to see video art or maybe more sculptured art. However I only got it today so might come across it. I doubt I I'll see video art as i knew it would most likely not be in this app before I got it but I would like to see it come out in an update.

Overall, fantastic app for anyone who had the interest to visit this page. Hence the name art authority.

  • So much potential, but falls far short

Fantastic idea, hugely impressive collection of art, yet the thumbnails load so painfully slowly it makes the whole experience a waste of your time. I'll return to the app if they address this issue in an update, otherwise it will remain unused on my ipad. For this much money I expect a better executed application and at the moment I feel ripped off...

  • Great app, though updates needed

Artwork looks amazing in this app. Browsing through in full screen is a great experience. Captions fade away after a few seconds in perfect timing. Images may load slowly and sometimes they stall, but so far no crash. Internet connection needed to view collections previously viewed. Would be optimal if they are accessible offline once you have browsed them online. The price point is ok. But viewing offline is a must in future updates.

  • Wonderful!

This is a well thought out app offering an enormous collection of the world's best-loved art. Simply browsing through the "Gallery" is easy, intuitive, fun, and educational. The slide show feature makes for enjoyable viewing.

More focused viewing is quickly available by artist or historical period, and then by individual image views, slideshow, or resizeable grid of thumbnail images. The iPad version takes advantage of many of the new interface design elements and allows for easy zooming in and out of high resolution images.

  • Great app

This is a wonderful app for viewing and learning art. Some have complained that it can be slow but it seems fine to me when not viewing in wall mode. As far as I can tell with limited use, it has quite an extensive collection. I like that it takes you to wikipedia for more information on the artists without leaving the application.
