  • Great concept, mediocre execution

I really wanted to like this app, especially with the cost. The database aspect appears to work well. The form designer, however, does not live up to expectations. The form designer for the desktop works, but is very cumbersome. There are frequent errors, and placement of objects is difficult. The form design app for the iPad is actually easier to use than the desktop editor. The iPad form editor, however, often crashes. I was an hour into a form edit when the app crashed and I lost all of my work.

After the total expense for this app, including the iPad app, the iPad form designer (in app purchase), and the desktop component (web purchase), I expected a much more stable and professional product.

  • Great Program

I am baffeled by the negative reviews I see. I use the program extensively on my farming operation and regularly keep track of all kinds of things in multiple databases. The addition of Forms makes the utility much stronger. Alternative products I've looked at don't offer such power and versatility at a comparable price. The support forums and direct responses to questions have been good when I have a problem. Great Program.

  • Great DBMS

This application is the most versatile DBMS I've found to synch with my relational databases created in Microsoft Access on my PC. I have created new databases using the desktop application, iPhone version and iPad version. If you have experience designing and implementing relational databases and want them to synch with your desktop and/or MS Access, this is the application for you. The application's design interface is intuitive and sophisticated. I have used HanDbase for many years and have not found anything comparable.

  • Phenomenal app, worth purchasing an iPad for!!

I needed an app to track a fairly complex business process that I have and I was initially deterred by the seeming complexity of this product, as compared to other iPad database offerings. However a day into development using a different product I hit a wall due to its shortcomings.
I returned to HandBase (having purchased it, after all) and began to read the manual. After a fairly short learning curve (three hours) I began producing an app which over the past week has blossomed into a a fully relational database app with multi-tabbed forms.
I cannot recommend this app highly enough as it has turned my iPad from a functional gadget into a business necessity.
    Bravo DDH

  • Great Product & Customer Service!

I loaded HanDBase onto the iPad2 I'd received for Christmas and right away had a minor issue with one of the databases I had manually created. I sent an email to HanDBase support and expected to hear back after the holidays. Turns out the issue was of my own causing and I solved it shortly after sending the email. However, I received a friendly email pinpointing my error from Brian within 24 hours on New Year's Eve. Outstanding customer support!

I've just used the Desktop Connect feature to upload several Excel spreadsheets onto my iPad HanDBase. Piece of Cake! Count me as a very satisfied customer!

  • HanDBase for iPad

This app crashes for no apparent reason. Difficult to edit a record without app shutdown (which loses all data in the record). If I edit a record, I have to choose "+" (new record) and completely reenter the data. It is impossible to ediit an existing record. User manual is not very helpful in discribing what is happening on the iPad. It speaks in generalities that assumes everyone buying the app has an throrough understanding of database software. It think the app has potential, but it's not ready for publication at this time, too much "tweaking" involved to keep a stable, working app.

  • Great app

This is a great app. What would make it great is Dropbox support. This would allow easy backup and use on multiple devices. This is a real relational database and very powerful. Not really for the casual user but anyone who needs serious data management this may be the software for you.

Forms purchase now works after last upgrade. Forms works great for a mobile app.

Dropbox support still would be great! Keep up the good work!

  • Very Good DB App -- But

I've been using HanDbase for many years on many platforms and it still remains the best available, IMO. There are MANY HandDbase DBs available for use which enables users to be productive with it -- Day One. However, it needs updating to make it a 5-star app for iPad. It is too "pre-2005" now in that it requires access to a workstation. (This is a problem that Apple also needs to overcome with its "iTunes" requirement so I cannot blame completely blame DDh)

-- Sync/backup or copy to the most popular Cloud Services like Dropbox or Google is a necessity.
-- All form design options need to be available on the iPad
-- Integration with other iPad apps - we should be able to directly transfer online or local worksheets or HTML tables to and from DBs.
-- Directly download and use of HandDbase "free" databases - again you need a workstation to unzip and load.

  • Form capability needed

You really need to implement forms, listing the database puts us in the position of scrolling up and down constantly. With the big screen of the Ipad, it would be great to be able to place all the data on the screen that you can see. That would be sweet. This also includes the child records. Please also implement calculations across linked files. Very easy to create simple or complex databases.
Please also make the signature field full screen for larger drawings.

  • Infuriating, Otherwise Pleasant

This app is infuriating when it crashes and I lose hours worth of data input. When it doesn't crash, it's actually quite pleasant to use. It has an easy to use interface. I love its ability to have pictures with each record. It would be nice to have a button to make the left third of the screen disappear to see more fields. The app has gotten less buggy over time with all the updates, so I've had crashes less often, but it still happens. As a possible crash prevention method, I'm exiting the program every 5-10 minutes.
